Dutch trade union FNV has called a strike at KLM ground services at AMS Amsterdam Schiphol Airport for tonight, 19h30-21h00. No luggage will be loaded, no pushbacks will be done.

Flights affected for Brussels Airport: KL1732/KL1733.

The strike was announced on Tuesday evening and KLM reacted with an immediate court case (kortgeding / summary proceeding / procédure sommaire) with court verdict expected around noon. KLM wants that the trade union continues the negociations for a collective labour agreement, and KLM states that too many passengers will be affected.

Meanwhile, Amsterdam Schiphol Airport had two major computer system failures for the luggage on three days. Last Sunday some 9.000 pieces were not loaded, and Tuesday another 6.000.

A Dutch judge has forbidden FNV to go on strike!

There is no urgency to use such a heavy weapon, the judge ruled.

I have to correct my above post. The Dutch judge only ruled that a strike is temporary not allowed because he/she (= the judge) needs a bit more time for a verdict. New court date is set for 11th August.

You didnt have to correct your post :) The judge ruled a strike isn't allowed AND needs more time for the full motivation of the verdict. Those two aren't related.

Maybe airlines should dismiss such pilots on medical grounds? People with such a psychological disorder "we are forced to go on strike" shouldn't be allowed to fly with passengers.

The verdict is out: the judge forbits FNV to go on strike, at least till 4 September.

Even in Australia, trade unions like to take passengers as hostage for their salary increase demands:

On 11th August, a Dutch judge provisionally ruled that a strike at KLM is forbitten till 4th September, when he/she (= the judge) will rule in full. The strike is called by trade union FNV.

This trade union went to court once again: they don't accept that provisional ruling from 11th August, and they want to go on strike before 4th September... A court date for this appeal is now set for 23th August.

British Airways cabin crew vote for industrial action

British Airways cabin crew have voted for industrial action over the introduction of a new controversial performance management scheme, but have stopped short of going on strike.

Members of the 8,800-strong British Airlines Stewards and Stewardesses Association (BASSA), part of Unite, voted by a massive majority of 91 per cent for action.

Cabin crew said the new performance management scheme is a “needless replacement” for the existing system and have concerns its introduction “masks a hidden agenda” of future job losses which will hit passenger service on the airline.

The union said it would not be announcing the dates of the industrial action until discussions take place with its BASSA representatives.

And the same apologies again in the Dutch: "the pilots and their trade union blame the airline for causing this strike". One can accept such nonsense from brainwashed trade unions fighters, but from pilots?

Affecting = causing cancelled/delayed flights, diversions, diverted pax,...?

How does an easyjet strike in ams affect passengers in bru? or in ost?

How does a strike in australia impact customers in CRL?

How does a called off strike in London affect anyone for that matter?

Guys, Sean has a point here, the topic is about strikes impacting Belgian airports...

Whereas an Easyjet strike in AMS could impact Belgian travelers departing from AMS, it doesn't impact Belgian airports.

On the other hand... BRU suffered so many problems and strikes, which were very well reported on our beloved forum, that it's understandable some members want to point out in the same topic that strikes happen at AMS as well.

So, I'm not going to delete these topics, but for the future, maybe start a topic about "strikes impacting airports in neighboring countries".

We thank you for your understanding!

Cheers,

Stij

A strike in London could potentially impact Belgian airports, so I feel like it's worth posting this in this topic. Even if it's called of, it could have caused disruption on flights to/from BRU.

Yawn. Topic cleaned up.

To whom is may concern, read what I've written before. I think it was clear enough.

Flight disruptions are possible at Portugese airports. Some of the security staff is on strike since a few days, with most efforts put on today's strike.
