Iberia cancels 2 Africans routes from May 2016: Accra (Ghana) and Lagos (Nigeria).
An opportunity for Brussels Airlines?
At the same time, Iberia will also stop flying to Istanbul. Too strong competition from Turkish Airlines it reminds Brussels Airlines).

No opportunities for SN here, oneworld is streamlining routes/connections between BA and IB

What do you mean?sean1982 wrote:No opportunities for SN here, oneworld is streamlining routes/connections between BA and IB
In Luanda the rights to fly are 2 to 3 times a week for all European companies.
8 for TAP but because historical reasons.
So One world is downgrading from 4 to 2 flights a week.
The two flights from BA are staying .

Re: Cancelled services and discontinued routes in 2016
It means that oneworld is pretty happy with 2 flights as 4 are not needed. Why would that be an opportunity for SN?lumumba wrote:What do you mean?sean1982 wrote:No opportunities for SN here, oneworld is streamlining routes/connections between BA and IB

And it's a big difference you had 22 flights a week BA,SN,IB,LH,KL,TP,AF.(without the TAAG flights)
In fact STAR is very strong in Luanda they have 2 flights a day with BRUSSELS,Lufthansa and TAP...

True but oneworld's strenghts lay elsewhere. They dont have a very strong presence in Africa (except for south africa then) and I dont feel as if it is a priority for them.

On 26 June, Cityjet will axe the London City to Cork route, launched with great hopes only 7 months ago.
And Ryanair launches 'rescue sales' with this dubious tweet: "Feeling shitty about City? We've launched a €16.99 sale from @CorkAirport to London Stansted & Gatwick."

Re: Cancelled services and discontinued routes in 2016
The main reason (like for Nigeria) seems to stem from the difficulty to repatriate funds from those countries. Lack of traffic is not the cause of the withdrawals.globetrotter wrote:Latam also pulled out of there last week.sn26567 wrote:Lufthansa unexpectedly to stop Frankfurt-Caracas (Venezuela) service, effective 18 June.
