Lufthansa has indicated by letter a few days ago to the Minister of Sustainable Development and Infrastructures, François Bausch, its intention to sell its shares in the national airline, said RTL.
Lufthansa is a shareholder at 13% and wishes to leave the capital as part of the overall reorganization of its equity portfolio.
Bausch has already informed the other shareholders of the situation. A meeting to be held shortly, but a date is currently open.
Luxembourg State is the majority shareholder (39.04%), followed by BCEE (21.81%), BIL (13.14%), LuxairGroup itself and others (13%).

The Luxembourg government has acquired Lufthansa’s 13% stake in national carrier Luxair, a Lufthansa spokesperson confirmed to ATW in Frankfurt.
“The deal was completed Nov. 6,” the spokesperson said without giving financial details. “To our understanding, the government will take these shares temporarily.”
