Re: Emirates A380 at BRU ?

Post by Treeper »

the anniversary is 1 thing,
but isn't the underlying factor that they just want to check how fast BRU can handle the A380? to have a look how prepared they are to receive the whale?
long short: if it's actually possible to start an A380 daily to BRU iso the B77W?

Of course it is, EK didn't make a secret of it that they are already looking at an upgrade to two daily or an upgrade to an A380 for the BRU route (and BRU confirmed that they would do the necessary changes to facilitate the A380 when an airline is committed to flying the aircraft to BRU on a regular basis), so this is probably just a first test (and arranged like that with BRU behind the screens).

Dear all, I work for a local television station. Can some luchtzakkers tell me if the 380 will pass the Kempen or Mechelen area during its approach? And will it be visible in case of sunny weather? And around what time...?

danieln,

The image below shows the approach of EK183/14SEP. The one on 18SEP will expectedly be similar.

Therefore do not expect to be able to see the A380 in the province of Antwerp.

I took a quick look at the forecasts, and found the winds expected from the south to southwest, and not overly strong. From a purely meteorological view this would mean landings might be on the cross runway, bringing the big bird low over Hofstade, Elewijt, Melsbroek; but I have a feeling the preference might be for the standard 25L landing, given the greater landing distance available. This would concur with the arrival path shown above. However the famous "dispersion plan", or what remains of it, might have its own influence. And above all, weather is famous for changing at last instance and/or without any clear reason, not least in Belgium.

If you want to be sure: keep an eye on FR24 and/or keep a listening watch on the various frequencies - Brussels Arrivals might well be the most relevant.

After take off, will it make the immediate left turn or will it fly straight on the Canal route (if so I may have a chance for a photo) :?:

A tow bar has been leased from another airport. It was parked at B33, with one jet bridge connected to the lower front door. Two stairs respectively at second lower door and last lower door with passengers asked to go to respectively to gates B31 and B29. There is was tractor capable of pushing-back an a A380 with the leased tow bar.

Besides the traditional congratulations, I noticed two things in the speeches by Arnaud Feist, CEO of Brussels Airport, and Jean-Pierre Martin, Emirates country manager for Belgium and Luxembourg:

1. Brussels Airport is starting studies to see how to make Brussels Airport fully compatible with the A380.

2. Emirates will recruit Belgian cabin crew in November.

Aren't they recruiting cabin crew on regular basis in Belgium?
Last year I applied for it and every couple of months I get an invitation to go to a "job day" in Belgium or The Netherlands. (I haven't gone there yet, since I have a different job now)

I think they started to look for cabin crew in Antwerp at the Hilton .
A friend of mine went there .
I think that they recruit here but you have to do a training for 6 months somewhere around Amsterdam.
