But will it be a scheduled route or a charter?
A weekly charter (not open for reservations on the SN website): see https://www.aviation24.be/airlines/klm-roy ... -brussels/

Vueling cease route from Brussels to Rome

The strength overcapacity on certain routes from Brussels does not remain without consequences. For several weeks Vueling ceased flying on the route from Brussels Airport to Rome.

Wow! It's not surprising that they have cancelled the route, with such strong competition on it.
It is surprising however to see it take effect immediately

They must be reassigning that aircraft to Barcelona where they are having significant operational issues respecting schedules. Gives a clue of how drastic the aforementioned operational problems must be :o

THAI this month (July 2016) begins codesharing with Brussels Airlines on the latter's Brussels – Toronto and Brussels – Washington Dulles flights.

I don't know if this is the right place to post, but Brussels Airlines is adding new codeshare agreements with Air Canada.

Brussels Airlines last Thursday (18AUG16) further expands codeshare partnership with Air Canada, as SN code is being placed on additional Air Canada’s Trans-Atlantic service, including flights operated by rouge.

brussels airlines operated by Air Canada
Montreal – Geneva
Montreal – Lyon
Montreal – Nice
Montreal – Paris CDG
Montreal – Rome
Toronto – Madrid
Toronto – Manchester

I moved the post to what I believe is a better topic.

This being said, I fail to understand why SN is codesharing on AC routes from Canada to competing hubs in Europe. Who is going to book a flight on SN from Rome, Paris or Madrid to Toronto?

I've done such strange routings with Lufthansa in the past too, mostly as a re-routing option.
I have no specific knowledge about this, so I am just guessing, but I could imagine that it may indeed come handy in such cases to be able to offer the re-routing under one's own code rather than having to book a ticket on the operating airline itself if and when the need arises.

I don't know if it's the primary reason, but this enables SN to sell much more trans-Atlantic city pairs on their own code (as marketing carrier) and indeed also offer more alternatives/re-routings using their own codes. Not as common as codeshares to/from own hub and connecting onward routes, but in a joint-venture cooperation not unusual either.

Vueling will stop flying from Brussels to Lisbon and Porto from end September. All benefit for the three survivors of the routes: TAP, SN and Ryanair.

Indeed,
Vueling will close its BRU base and will only serve a couple of Spanish routes as from this winter.
That's the first of the low service airlines which is kicked out by the unstoppable growth of the home carrier. ;)

No, because end of September is still the summer season.

I had first posted the information in the Winter 2016-17 topic, because I thought it would be end October.

The A350 of Finnair on the route Helsinki-Brussels will be replaced as from next week by a smaller type.

Reason for this is bcs Finnair is expanding their full freighter flights from/to BRU with the A300 of DHL.
Currently the A300F is flying on Saturday and Sunday but the Sunday flight will be cancelled. It will be replaced by full freighter flights on Wednesday and Thursday. So one extra full freighter flight instead of the A350
