That comes as a surprise. I thought that KLM's intention was to cancel the route and replace it with a train link, like Air France does between Brussels and CDG. Instead, KLM increases the capacity of its planes.

Basically it says that KLM has reduced frequency from five to four daily flights this Winter, but one of them will become a mainline 73G instead of a Cityhopper E190 as of next Summer season. Capacity of the 73G is 42% more than on the E190.

I thought they had announced all of their European summer program for next year?!

They really have become an airline you constantly need to watch for route announcements: this is the 3rd time they pull this surprise trick from their hat, after Bremen and Nuremberg.

I suppose its going to be flown on Airbus?

Booking engine is showing a mix of A319s and (mostly) A320s, indeed.

It make sa while now that Brussels Airlines annonces new routes not together, last year they annouced the bunch of new summer routes and à few month later they announced Ibiza, and then later Bremen. I think Brussels Airlines has always worked this way, but we didn't realised it as there were not so many destination announced has now. By the way other destination (long haul as well) Will be soon annouced.

SAS withdraws its flights from Göteborg to BRU (and also to LON and PAR) between June 20th and August 31st, so that the company could focus on offering other services over the holiday period.

That would be surprising... The only new added A330 is said in this forum to be used on TATL!

In spring next year, Brussels Airlines will add a ninth Airbus A330 to its fleet. This long-range aircraft allows to connect Brussels Airport and Toronto 5 times a week starting from April, to fill the void of the departure of Jet Airways. Sales of the Toronto flights start next week.
At the same time Brussels Airlines continues to focus on African growth. In spring 2016 extra flights to Kigali (Rwanda) and Entebbe (Uganda) are added to the schedule, bringing the flight frequency to 6 and 4 flights a week respectively.
In the coming 12 to 15 months a tenth A330 will join the fleet to expand the African offer. Brussels Airlines is currently analyzing two new routes, i.e. Lagos and Libreville. More information will be shared later.

Its actually going to be quite a massive transatlantic assault by A++ on BRU as not only does SN launch Toronto, they will also add a weekly frequency on Washington while United will launch a second daily Newark. ;)
