Brucargo 2015: Cargo routes, news, Brucargo West, Diabolo

Post by Atlantis »

As from 15th January, Ethiopian Cargo will have 4 weekly cargo flights ex-BRU and will use their new B777F for it. It was not only BRU who was involved in getting back Ethiopian Cargo but a lot of other forwarders, Logistics companies, etc who wanted this airline back at BRU

Qatar Cargo will add at the end of January two extra cargo flights. they will fly 8 times instead of 6 times to/from BRU. The two flights that they will start will be DOH - BRU - BSL - DOH.

LJ wrote:There is a long time rumour that QR wants to start pax service to AMS. However, that would mean it has to give up its cargo flights as the bilateral doesn't allow more than daily flights between Qatar and The Netherlands for a Qatari airline.
Seems that the bilateral is different than I thought. It's for a daily pax AND cargo flight. Good news for BRU as well as they can't increase their flights ex AMS thus any increase in this region will go to BRU (which seems to get more flights now than AMS).

Who will do the handling? Swissport or Aviapartner?
Any dates and times known yet?

Thanks.

That is great news and also for our agriculture. Our pears will now also fly to Canada. It was a very long process for the needed certificates, etc.

So hopefully they will fly for a long time on BRU

Ethiopian Cargo will start two extra cargo flights mid-April.
This means that from the current 4 cargo flights they will go to 6 weekly cargo flights.

DHL will triple its business in Brussels Airport.

DHL is investing 114 million euros in a new platform at Brussels Airport. Without increasing the number of night flights, they swear! The roadmap unveiled by Le Vif / L'Express, yet tells the opposite: they will increase by 57% by 2020.

It's the return of the prodigal son who was never completely gone. The significant investment - to the level of € 114 million - that DHL is about to realize the Brussels airport site is a curious spin of the story: in 2004, after a long arm twisting with the Verhofstadt government, the parcel distributor announced that it will leave Brussels in part, a few years later in favour of Leipzig. Reason for this anger: it did not get the number of allowed night flights revised upwards.

We are in 2015: hello, they are back! DHL is welcomed with open arms by the management of Brussels Airport, always keen to develop business, and some political representatives. Among the disappointed and/or worried, the residents' associations and the people of Brussels.

When the proposed new hub of DHL will be materialized, within two years, 39,500 shipments will be treated there every hour, vs 12 000 today. They will pass through a new sorting centre of 31,500 m2, where some 200 new employees will be employed by 2020, promises DHL.

It is however unknown on which type of aircraft these sorted package will be sent. Larger aircraft? "We continue to invest in quieter aircraft, but at present, we are unable to confirm or deny that we will use larger aircraft," said Ann Van Hooydonck, the spokeswoman of DHL. The roadmap that DHL Express has presented to the political authorities at the end of 2014 is however much more explicit: according to this document that Le Vif / L'Express has obtained, DHL will replace its smaller capacity aircraft by larger planes. The Boeing 757 will therefore be replaced by the 767 and the Airbus 300. The use of this type of aircraft can only be done during the day, their take-off Quota Count (volume of noise emitted by plane) is greater than 8, the maximum permissible margin under Belgian law for night flights.

Extra day flights are actually announced by the express mail firm. How many? "It is impossible for DHL to answer that question," says its spokeswoman. Will additional aircraft in the carrier's livery fly at night? "We will not increase the night take-offs", swears this spokesperson, joined by Arnaud Feist, the CEO of Brussels Airport Company. Strange. Indeed, the DHL roadmap provides quite the opposite: between 2013 and 2020, the number of night flights will increase by ... 57%.

Residents' defence organizations decided to require DHL to immediately suspend its project to build a new hub at Brussels National Airport.

After Le Vif / L'Express

The alliance of these two organizations is a first.

For these two movements, which are explained in a statement, the increase in DHL operations is incompatible with "the federal government's commitment to ensure sustainable management of the airport and with the right fundamental to all citizens flown to respect for their health. "

No Question Actie and accordingly require Noordrand DHL, Brussels Airport and the Federal Government, they take their responsibilities and abandon it immediately DHL development project in Brussels.

Spotter's be quick because this kind of operations should not last very long. I would not bet a single kopeck on them.

Will be nice to see this aircraft again, long time ago... Soon they will use other equipment, which they are already looking for, as they are also not stupid and they know this aircraft is not a long term solution. Seems first respons from agents is more than encouraging, so fingers crossed !
