It seems that JAF-503 Brussels-Cancun (787-800 OO-JDL) took no risk with hurricane Patricia, announced to hit Mexico during the forthcoming hours. The Dreamliner is now overland the U.S. OO-JDL first reached the Canadian border a bit north of Goose Bay, and then flew above Quebec and New York southbound. Flight is still in the air now.

A rerouting that causes a delay for the return flight of almost 5 hours is for me a bit more then just "nothing particular at all".

By the way, the flight time to VRA on that flight is 9:50 which is not abnormal at all either.

A detour, a rerouting, a deviation, a side road: what's in a name... But please, don't call a flight from Brussels to Varadero, entering Canada 100 kms north of Goose Bay, a "regular route". The KLM 777 who is doing the same routing from Amsterdam is doing the "regular route" right now: straight over the Atlantic Ocean.

Then just take a look at the routing of JAF103 last week, it was even more to the north......
It's pretty simple to understand that a flight needs to be the shortest possible in time, and not in distance.

And for info, I fly that route a couple of times a year (in the flight deck), so I think I know what I'm talking about -)

If the the above statement from TUI is correct, the passengers won't mind that the name Jetairfly no longer exists.

The passengers and the travel trade can only hope that the "interchangeability of aircraft in the different source markets" will indeed be implemented in case of a breakdown or another problem. If so, Jetair/TUI can avoid delays like tomorrow (Saturday) to Punta Cana: OO-JDL will arrive with a delay of at least 5 hours, so another TUI aircraft could be called in to avoid the same delay for Punta Cana (JAF-601).

All aircraft are still on a Belgian AOC and have the "OO-" immatriculation, so still a Belgian airline. Only the flag is not shown anymore. But please correct me if I'm wrong...

They are changing the design of TUI-airlines for interchangeability between the airlines in the group. They will however keep the different AOC's for traffic right purposes.
Extra - European routes are included in bilateral agreements between countries. As long as that isn't agreed on European level they will have to keep different AOC's to maintain those traffic rights.

Out of Ostend: Rome, Nice, Burgas, Varna (Djerba is dropped)
Out of Antwerp: Ibiza, Split, Rome
Out of Brussels: Larnaca
Out of Charleroi: Rabat

Also, 4 737s will join the fleet.
