BRU Summer 2015: latest news, routes, airlines

Re: BRU Summer 2015: latest news, routes, airlines
Is indeed about the bilateral agreement between Belgium and UAE. With Emirates starting the flights to BRU, the bilateral does not foresee other more flights. So bilateral needs an update or civil aviation Belgium needs to allow these flights outside the bilateral. Consider these statements pre lobby work in order to gain leverage for a new agreement.

Icelandair in the past week further revised planned Summer 2015 operation. Note that all changes are based on Summer 2015 vs Summer 2014.

According to this article Air Berlin (operated by NIKI), with effect from April 7, will offer a double daily Bratislava to Brussels National return service using an EMB-190.
Edit: according to this article NIKI will also start flights between Vienna and Brussels National.

It seems those flights are no longer available for booking???
Are they cancelling quietly?
(Availability currently still to be found for the last few weeks of October, but for how long still?)

THAI
National airline to downsize and reduce routes
BANGKOK: -- The State Enterprise Policy Committee has approved in principle Thai Airways International's rehabilitation plan, which was discussed in a meeting on Monday chaired by the prime minister.
Measures will include a reduction of the airline's staffing by 5,000 and cancellation of its non-performing routes.
THAI is one of even troubled state enterprises. In the first nine months of 2014, the airline suffered losses of Bt9 billion. It recorded a loss of Bt12 billion in 2013.
The rehabilitation plan will see its workforce slashed from 25,000 to 20,000.
The BangkokJohannesburg route was already cancelled on January 15 and the BangkokMadrid, BangkokMoscow, BangkokLos Angeles routes are likely to be axed in the second quarter of this year.
Decisions on routes that do not make a profit but are considered to have potential will be made in the fourth quarter. They include Bangkok-Rome, Bangkok-Milan, Bangkok-Brussels, Bangkok-Brisbane, Bangkok-Sapporo, Bangkok-Colombo, Bangkok-Denpasar and Bangkok-Hyderabad.
Under the rehabilitation plan, THAI’s fleet will also be revised. It will sell 22 old aircraft and decommission 14 Boeing 747-400 and Airbus A 340-600 craft.
THAI also plans to sell its stakes in Nok Air, BAFS and Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel. THAI holds a 39-percent stake in Nok Air, a 22.59-percent stake in BAFS and a 30-percent stake in Novotel Suvarnabhumi Airport Hotel. THAI also plans to sell its shares in the Amari Airport Hotel and Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel as part of its business restructuring.

Re: BRU Summer 2015: latest news, routes, airlines
At this moment there a lot of flights less then last Summer.
Vueling, Easyjet, Eurolot, US Airways (Charlotte), Thai, etc are decreasing or ceasing their operations.
SN, Ryanair, Jetairfly will increase their number of flights
So at this moment it seems that it is less or maybe status quo.

Well yeah, I don't fly Thai BKK-BRU because they are simply too expensive, I fly business class: Thai 140k THB, QR,EY, EK I Never pay more than 89K or +-2000 euro return.
Re: BRU Summer 2015: latest news, routes, airlines
You're forgetting Etihad Regional who will be starting flights. Also, last summer Emirates weren't yet flying. Plus, wasn't it mentioned here that Corendon were planning to base two aircraft at BRU this summer?Atlantis wrote:At this moment there a lot of flights less then last Summer.

I just reserved BRU BKK MEL for next augustus 2015...TG was cheaper than QR, EY and EK. Really good for me who do not want to transfer in DOH or DUB. Excellent service.thalenoi wrote:Well yeah, I don't fly Thai BKK-BRU because they are simply too expensive.
