Geert Sciot of SN confirmed that it's not their intention to stop operating to Riga after the end of Latvia's EU Presidency. Besides business traffic (especially now with their upcomming EU Presidency) they also see a lot of potential in tourism for Riga.

True, RIX has been a very high LF flight out of CRL for years

Riga Airport says the RJ100's will be replaced by A319's in the course of 2015 on SN's new BRU-RIX route. Though they do not specify when in 2015.

regarding the booking engine of SN, it looks like the flight to Athene will continue during the winter.

Some destination like Lyon and Budapest will be operated on airbus.

And all the Q400 will leave the fleet, Torino, Strasbourg, Hanover, Birmingham etc will be operated by SN in wintertime, just Bristol will be operated by BMI

Someone isn't happy that VY wanted to fly there. ;)
When in doubt, hold on to your altitude. No-one has ever collided with the sky.

Slovenia's Adria plans flights from Tirana Albania to Brussles and Paris

"Adria has two bases outside of Slovenia - in Pristina and Tirana. The national carrier will boost its operations out of the Albanian capital next year by launching flights to Brussels and Paris, complementing its existing services to Frankfurt and Ljubljana."

"Slovenia's Adria Airways plans to expand its newly opened base in the Albanian capital Tirana next year with the addition of several new routes. In an interview to the “Sierra5” portal, the CEO of Adria Airways, Mark Anžur says, “Tirana is very important to us and we will continue developing it. It is likely that we will launch flights from Tirana to Brussels and Paris next year”"

Not sure if this was already mentioned but De Tijd is reporting today that SN is cancelling Washington during winter, it is to become a seasonal route

Selected African routes get additional flights for the winter:
* Douala, Yaounde, Luanda, Kigali and Bujumbura : +1 each
* Nairobi: +2

In the mean time, this could mean that if during the next summer, they keep the same frequencies for the african routes and resume the washington flight, there will be a new long haul aircraft coming...

No need to read De Tijd: the information was mentioned on Luchtzak, both for Washington and Africa: ;) https://www.aviation24.be/forums/viewtopic ... 11#p301611

I'm glad that SN is coming back to Earth after their transatlantic adventure into IAD.
Summer only should do well enough on this route, the traffic is just not there.

Expanding in Africa is the wise choice, but I urge them once again to consider connections between China and Africa. LH is considering a new low-cost longhaul operation, so wouldn't it be nice if Gustin can convince the new LH CEO that SN has the right tools to compete in such capacity? If they can combine high yield China-Africa traffic with low-yield transit traffic, it could work out well for all, including LH as it will have a tool to fight the ME3's while decongesting their own FRA and MUC hubs.
VIE and ZRH can do this too but they don't have SN's access into Africa that can provide a balance in the yield spectrum and this is a unique tool that SN can offer.
Plus SN has shorthaul capacity available for feeding, which LX does not have and it will give SN the possibility to slow down TK's expansion into Africa mainly fueled by Asia-Africa traffic.
1 stone, 10 birds.

Translation:
Carsten Spohr also wants to operate the flights to Asia cheaper. Whether that would be in cooperation with a local partner or through the launch of a joint-venture, is not decided yet, according to Spiegel.

Nice move from SN to add more flights to Rwanda. This year my brother flown from Scotland to Kigali with SN, he enjoyed. I think that 2 of 3 weekly flights to Bujumbura should be operated via Kigali, and thus to serve Kigali daily, the gap btw SN and KLM is growing.

2013 : 42 000 (SN), 59 000 (KL), in terms of seat availability depending the period, Qatar KLM and Turkish are ahead of Brussels Airlines

In meantime KLM will add more seat capacity, they will serve Kigali with A330-300 (292 seats) from November 2014 via Kilimanjaro three times a week, while others 4 weekly will be operated via Entebbe with A330-200 (243 seats). KLM Cargo by Martinair now serves Kigali two times a week with the B747F instead of one time a week with a MD11F
