Don't know why that happened. My initial thought was crew duty time, but perhaps they were told that ground crew didn't offload the passenger's luggage? Or they forgot to offload his spouse's luggage?
According to the Chicago Tribune (a reputable newspaper) quoting a spokeswoman of United, the landing in Bangor, Maine, was due to a medical emergency and the return to Chicago after the take-off from Bangor and some miles in the direction of Brussels was due to mechanical problems.

The passengers got accommodation, were rebooked on alternate flights or taken to Brussels with a later UA flight.

Apparently no strike: just a lot of flights arriving at the same time...
Both Brussels Airport and the police confirm this!

Went to Heathrow then left again at 13.39. Not sure of the reason.

PH-OYI had an unplanned engine change.
Therefore, PH-AHQ had to do the routing that was planned for PH-OYI.
Therefore, EI-CMD (also 767-300) was hired in for ZNZ. With extra stopover in MXP.
Hence the delay(s).

Both Brussels Airport and the police confirm this!
Expatica has a different opinion:.

Brussels Airport: police strike leads to chaos

The strike action by police led to much chaos at Brussels airport this morning. Thousands of passengers were stranded at border control.

“They’re definitely feeling the consequences of the police strike”, said VRT radio correspondent Luk De Wilde, who was present at the airport this morning.
“I estimate that there are around 4,000 passengers in this queue.”
The travellers had only just landed.
The airport did not want to confirm that the overlong queues were the result of the police strike and stated that a lot of flights had landed at the same time.
Because all these passengers were stuck at border control, baggage reclaim fell in total disarray after their suitcases weren’t picked up in a timely fashion.
The queue at border control has since shrunk, extra police officers have been drafted in.

Flight has just taken off from ORY and is on its way to CRL. Or will it land elsewhere because of the curfew?

Most newsreports mention "for a pregnant woman with medical complications". Haven't seen the word "baby" yet.

It seems OO-JEM had a problem in Pristina as well. Arrival of JAF5848 from yesterday delayed from 01.00 to 13.30.

A U.S. Airways flight from Brussels to Philadelphia was diverted to Bangor International Airport for a short period because of severe weather conditions.

Due to weather conditions between Brussels Airport and Philadelphia International Airport, flight delays are now in effect to maintain a consistent flow of air traffic,” the US Airways site states. “This flight has been delayed and is being diverted to Bangor.

The Boeing 757 twin jet landed in Bangor at around noon. The flight continued on after a short stop.
