JAF-607 Brussels-Miami (767-300) took off with a 2 hour delay (09h01 iso 07h00).

Reason: one passenger told a crew member, apparently after an dispute, he had a bomb...

The guy was arrested, his luggage was offloaded and the aircraft was searched by the special police squad. Passengers report that they were informed very well by the crew about what happened.

Source: different online newspapers.

Did you just see the Air Canada 833 that departed around 11:45 that still had his gears down above Schaerbeek? It's the first time I see a plane with the gears still down so long after its take-off. I assume there was a problem... anyone knows?

Not a real problem. It can be that the brakes get a little too hot during a long taxi. They would leave the landing gear down a while in the air to cool them.

According to FlightRadar, C-GHKX (A333) took off normal and is now straight on its way to Montreal.

The Aviation Herald forgot another turn around: Egyptair MSR-726 had a bird strike shortly after take-off and returned to BRU around 16:30 this afternoon.

How to screw up your business passengers, part 837:

"go on strike on a Monday morning, without previous warning".

Cityjet / VLM Antwerp is on strike.

Reason : "progress in negociations about salary increase is too slow".

Now they've got it:

Incident: Egypt A320 at Brussels on Jul 4th 2014, bird strike

An Egypt Air Airbus A320-200, registration SU-GCB performing flight MS-726 from Brussels (Belgium) to Cairo (Egypt) with 132 passengers, was climbing out of Brussels' runway 25R when the crew stopped the climb at 2000 feet reporting a bird strike into the right hand engine (V2527) but stating no emergency was being declared, they just needed to return to the airfield. The aircraft landed safely back on runway 25L about 15 minutes after departure.

The flight was cancelled, the passengers were rebooked onto the flight the following day.

One of the fan blades of the engine is reported "completely damaged".

All other aircraft land normally, even JAI227. Maybe shortage of fuel or technical ?

Nope, problem is the ceiling (BKN001). They need more apparently.

Regional tv (Focus WTV):

- detour to OST indeed because of fog. Company rule to divert early (see above post from Zorba)

- passengers were not allowed to deboard because some of them had no visa for Belgium

- passengers complained: "no info, no water. Only around noon we received half a glass of water and... a waffle"

- crew went into overtime, causing another delay

Looking at FR24 playback, it looks like JAI229 made 2 attempts to land at BRU before diverting to OST.

01:30LT, heavy thunderstorms around BRU and LGG. JAF4218 NBE-BRU go-around just before the CB, 8 aircraft for LGG in the holding overhead Charleroi, 2 overhead DIK and to top it all, ABX28S STN-LGG just declared emergency because he lost some navigation systems.
