New Budget airline from January to ANR!

Post by SabenaForever »

There are rumours that a new (British) lowcost airline will operate flights to ANR from January!
http://atv.be/nieuws/2013-12-19/budgetv ... op-deurne/
(Only dutch)

And

Some investors are planning to begin a new airline operating from ANR!

(Only dutch)

If this is true, that will be good news for Antwerp Airport

Antwerpen Airlines in a red-white livery with Fokker 50 !
BeOnTop ;)
E175/E190/F50 LCC operator ?
Can't see any reliable and serious LCC which can operate in ANR on a LCC basis...
Any ideas ??

I guess, another hoax to end the year ...

The talks from VOKA, that there will come "Maybe" connections with British towns, GVA, ZRH and CPH
i hear them for about 25 years!
and that BMI will come back, after they left ANR, just 1 month ago, after a short operation of only 1 year,
i can't believe it,
besides, they don't have the planes to operate from that short runway!
4 Emb 135 ( limited ) and 14 Emb 145 ( impossible )

And what about Flybe, a regional LCC operator, with the Q400??

Hi,
Flights from ANR to GVA,ZRH,British don't sound so LCC to me ?
And GVA in D8? in direct competition with three times easy and seven? Times SN in A319 ? Just 30 km further away?
British cities beyond London ? Manchester didn't work in an emb135, what was the loadfactor mentioned last weeks?

A Dash would be the best option from anr I guess but how and earth could you get a decent LF as even Manchester didn't work, don't say oil because RTM even didn't survive an aberdeen connection last year in a dornier328...
Again the antwerp magic word: diamonds... ,
Diamonds are running well without this connections by now, so this seems it isn't a real logistic problem ;)

Way too optimistic, hope I'm wrong offcourse...

" Flybe. outlines plans to close six UK bases! "
So i don't think Flybe will be the solution
what they have to do is GVA specific for the wintersports
NCE or TLN in summer, or Saint Tropez- La Mole, as FlyBaboo did before
and 3) a big airport to feeder a big company!

Wasn't Sion a VLM destination at one time? Can't have been a giant success, then.

AAI,

Zaventem is the biggest airport in the ANR area !
Schiphol may be bigger than BRU but in no way a better alternative then BRU concerning ANR..
If you like Schiphol that much, compared with LHR or FRA.. AMS is BRU- like haha..
But no offense I like AMS also but no Holland-Belgium discussion here please, we are always too busy with Flemish-Walloon fights :) lol
Euh back to Antwerp, everything outside is just a parking lot as we say here...so BRU as ANR south .''

I have serious doubts that a budget or LCC could be profitable operating form (to) ANR as the costs would be too high. I don't want to "kill" ANR, but wouldn't the best solution be to increase nonstop train frequencies between Antwerpen-Centraal and BRU from 2 to 4 per hour ?
In favor of quality air travel.

Let them start by running two trains an hour week end evenings! Often one train
An hour from BRU to Antwerp central. Week ends eve.. Sometimes with a change
Of trains in mechelen.

Monday to Friday :

Indeed, they should upgrade to two nonstop links per hour on Sat/Sundays (and up to 4 per hour the rest of the week).

So no news about this start-up yet?

I finally watched the ATV story on this, (couldn't find it at first in the second link provided by the OP, now I found it through Google) and they are saying that they lack a 500.000 euro liquidity reserve to start it up and are looking for funds. Sorry but for me it's not realistic to start an airline when investors aren't able to easily come up with an additional reserve of such a small amount.

I like the concept though, ANR has everything to become a successful low-cost airport.
The concept could indeed work with Q400's, B737NG's or a combination of both.
