Re: ANA starting Dusseldorf from summer 2014
For now... and not such a suprise actually as they already have joint venture with LH in which SN is not (yet) included. But ANA frequently stated that DUS and BRU and ZRH are seen as future 787 destinations, in their communication it has always been a matter of "and" and not "or" (but in the case of ZRH and BRU it's still a matter of "if").SabenaForever wrote:So they chose for DUS....
And it fits in the current enforcement of LH's Germany-Tokyo network. They'll add daily FRA-HND and shift the daily MUC flight from NRT to HND. Also ANA will go double daily on FRA-HND and they will also shift to HND-MUC instead of NRT. So that adds up to daily DUS (NRT), 4 daily FRA (1 to NRT, 3 to HND) and 2 daily MUC (HND).

Too bad they don't do BRU, but I agree with Romax: they first need to include Brussels Airlines into their joint venture with LH. Let's hope it's only a matter of time as a nonstop flight between our country and japan would be highly welcome and economically beneficial for both nations, I am sure.

Normal, largest Japanese community in Germany is in Dusseldorf, have a walk around the Nikko hotel in DUS and you will see. Best and cheap Sushi in Europe to be found in DUS.

And second largest is Hamburg, where they don't fly (yet?).eurojet wrote:Normal, largest Japanese community in Germany is in Dusseldorf.

Even in general, regardless of the cities. Germany has a very large community of Japanese migrants or people with Japanese roots... So to have a rather high frequency of connections makes sense.
BRU would make sense too with many Japanese companies having their European HQ here. Most of those now use Finnair for their flights...

Re: ANA starting Dusseldorf from summer 2014
Didn't ANA announce DUS before but didn't start it? Or was this JAL?
Re: ANA starting Dusseldorf from summer 2014
I think JAL actually flew to DUS in the recent past.
