The plane, an Airbus A330, is seen on the picture at #BKK with the emergency slides deployed. However, it's unknown what caused the crash landing. It's also unknown if there have been any injuries or fatalities

The link below shows the final moments before the crash landing:

All 298 persons on board Thai Airways International's flight TG669 are safe despite the accident during the landing.

The aircraft has been partially repainted overnight to avoid daylight photo's showing the airline's name.

Reading passenger accounts would suggest that the nose gear was not centered when it touched the ground...

Regarding the painting over of logos on the aircraft of Thai Airways flight TG679., Star Alliance has officially commented that this is not in line with Star Alliance crisis guidelines. It would appear that the official quoted was misinformed.

Purely from a marketing point of view I can understand why they do that... Words don't last forever, pictures & movies do.

I don't understand what all the fuzz is about...their practise of painting over the brandname is useless at worst since we all seem to agree that the operator is still easily identifyable by the paintscheme...

For spotters maybe. Joe public doesnt have a clue, I bet all airlines in the world have this policy of remiving recognisable markings.

O look, I just boarded a plane that looks like the one next to the runway. Would it be one of the same company?

Ok some people you can fool, but for the world's sake I do hope it's a minority.

NLG didn't collapse...both engines write off due to mud ingestion from the projection created by the NLG in the soft soil.

If you board a plane in BKK sure, then it's not that difficult. Anywhere else in the world here Thai comes once a day people haven't got a clue. Go to the Nieuwstraat in Brussels and ask 10 people to describe how a Thai airways plane looks like. How many are gonna guess it you think?

True, for us aviation enthousiast it is always difficult to understand how non-aviation enthousiasts think about our business.
