Re: Bombardier CSeries news

Post by sn26567 »

AirBaltic hastened a deal for Bombardier CSeries planes before Airbus formally takes over the Canadian planemaker because it was worried about securing the right delivery slots.

AirBaltic plans to turn one of its foreign destinations into a base should it convert some or all of its CSeries options. The airline could operate around 45-50 aircraft from Riga, Tallinn and Vilnius, with remaining aircraft wet-leased out or operating in other markets.

Airbus says making the CSeries and the A320neo family “an integrated family of aircraft” is “a key strategic objective of the new partnership between the two manufacturers.

Airbus to acquire a majority stake in the C Series Aircraft Limited Partnership, effective July 2018, as all regulatory approvals required for the closing of the transaction have been obtained. Bombardier will continue with its current funding plan of CSALP.

Airbus expects to sell a double-digit number of CSeries jets in 2018 and sees demand for at least 3,000 of the planes over the next 20 years.

Let's hope LH buys the A220, and allocates about 10 planes to Brussels Airlines...
So, exit the doomed SSJ, and enters a plane which great potential of fleet commonality within the group.
Can't wait to see the A220 in Brussels Airlines colours.
I recently flew BRU-ZRH in a Swiss CS100. I was impressed by the level of comfort (legroom, low noise level,...) in that plane.

Jetblue's order for the A220-300 (née CS300) is obviously a big succes for the new C Series Aircraft Limited Partnership (CSALP), but it is an even bigger blow for Embraer, losing its launch customer and biggest operator of the E190 to its main competitor! Jetblue was not overly enthusiastic of the E190's operating cost, especially maintenance cost (even more so for the early production numbers) and fleet wide higher than expected engine maintenance cost. Analyst in recent years (before CSALP) expected follow on orders for Embraer E2 series.

Boeing said that it is “done” pursuing any additional trade complaints against Airbus and Bombardier at the US International Trade Commission. The fight was lost from the very beginning and I wonder why Boeing kept it for so long.

JetBlue got a big discount of up to 72% on its latest aircraft purchase from Airbus, according to Moody’s. The carrier probably paid US$1.4 billion to $1.7 billion for 60 A220-300s, or between US$23-28 million per plane.

Bombardier is under pressure to make 20% savings on wings made in Belfast for Airbus, who wants to increase sales of the A220 by making it cheaper.

Delta Air Lines maintains plans to initially use its A220s on longer routes served by large regional aircraft, putting the brakes on possible new focus cities with the aircraft.

AirBaltic expects to have 14 A220s by end 2018, as production issues and engine woes that once delayed deliveries eased. The carrier expects to have 22 planes by end 2019.

BRA Braathens Regional Airlines to not buy new, more fuel-efficient planes, including the 10 A220s, until further notice, due to airport tax and a weak Swedish krona.

Air Tanzania is to take delivery of its first A220-300 soon: the aircraft (5H-TCH) left paintshop in Mirabel (Canada) on 22 November 2018, as a tweet by Airbus shows. Air Tanzania will be the first African operator of the A220, having ordered two A220-300s.

Airbus says the development of the A220-500 is “very likely”, according to Guillaume Faury, head of Airbus’ commercial aircraft division.

In the past, Bombardier also had plans to develop a CS500. I guess Airbus is relying on those plans.

Delta Air Lines confirmed that the debut of its new A220 fleet will be delayed due to the lack of working federal safety regulators during the government shutdown.
