Now he seems to be stopped at the two thirds of 25R (assistance?).

She's taxing right now.

*Edit* She parked at Inner 2 and is probably waiting for maintenance crew.

When in doubt, hold on to your altitude. No-one has ever collided with the sky.

I listened to the LiveATC.net recordings of EBBU around their departure time. I found out that the airplane had a flat nose tire and requested to return to BRU. Runway 25R is currently being inspected by the authorities. I'l try to give you guys a link.

I'm only an interested passenger; can someone explain why you can't land in KGL with a flat nose tire but you can in BRU?

Just a guess: Because they can't get it fixed as quickly overthere maybe, whereas here they can?

Thank you Inquirer... but are you serious? How long does it normally take to fix such thing? Here in BRU, it's at least a 3 hours' delay for the flight!

And also in some African airports, runways are not in very good conditions, so there is a higher risk that the tire will explode on landing. Just a guess, I have no idea of the state of the RWY in KGL.

But yes it's probably for lack of quick maintenance for A330 over there.

Another reason: the tire could be totally flat when arriving at KGL, if the deflation continued in flight.

I don't know really, I am not active in aviation, but what makes you think there is even a spare one available in Kigali? I don't think a plane carries one around like our car, or do they?

In fact they do have a spare nose and main wheel in the bulk. I am just not quite sure if they still do it?

Due to gale and storm winds above northern England and Scotland. Curious to see if SN and BM will operate EDI flights.

I don't have the info on this particular case and I don't know what the Brussels Airlines Operation Manual says, but certain procedures in case of tyre burst (not confirmed that it was effectively a tyre burst) on take-off suggest not to change the configuration (flaps, landing gear) after take-off as a tyre burst can rupture hydraulic lines. The safest thing to do then is to keep the take-off config, enter the hold, analyse the status of the aircraft and land at the nearest suitable airfield (mostly the aerodrome of departure).

Best regards,
TOm

Bad day for SN at Brussels., SN2263 BRU-CPH turned around above West-Germany and is currently landing on 25L. What would be the problem?

CPH airport closed an hour ago due to the storm. We have winds up to 55 knots for the moment.
Flights temporarily suspended

Due to the wind direction and strength of wind gusts, CPH traffic is currently heavily impacted by the storm over Denmark. In the interests of passenger safety, all departures from Copenhagen airport are temporarily suspended. Arriving flights are also temporarily suspended with the exception of the approx. 20 aircraft that are already on their way to the airport.

SAS and Norwegian have suspended air traffic for the rest of the evening. Passengers on other airlines please contact the airline or tour operator for further details.

(Updated 05.12.13, at 20.20PM)
And a good move of CPH Airport:
For all travelers located in Copenhagen Airport we have now created a hotspot so that everyone can go online during the storm without creating a user account. This should make it easier for you to find information online about departures and arrivals.

Missed landing of a Flybe Q400 in SN colours at Birmingham yesterday (due to strong winds: spectacular!)
