First ITA aircraft (an A320 registered EI-DTE) painted in the final livery:

The blue is darker than what the initial drawings had suggested.

ITA Airways is in talks with Lufthansa, who is interested in a 15-40% stake in the new carrier.

Delta Air Lines says it has no plans to invest in ITA Airways. If Lufthansa does, why would Delta?

Hello,

Rumors speak of a 40% stake of lufthansa in ITA. a notified advantage is a hub from rome to africa. Do you find this (africa Hun) believable? (for my part, no) and in this case what about internal competition with brussels? .

Thanks for your opinions

SN's CEO Peter Gerber, who seems to appreciate the more pleasant strikes in Belgium than in Germany, might soon have the opportunity to enjoy the well-known Italian variant, then. ;)

In my opinion, is that argument ( Roma hub to africa) irrelevant apart from a geographical advantage, ITA has very few lines to africa, and this type of lines still requires a certain expertise and local notoriety (but i’m not an expert just a user)
Thanks

Lufthansa may indeed seek a 40% stake in ITA Airways. The plan, which could be announced in the coming days, would be subject to EU approval. Before making hypotheses about internal competition with SN, let's first see how this will unwind.

The EU will stay very small here and will approve because they have understood that European public opinion is turning against them.
It's always easy to demolish something and this airline remains very fragile.
Anyway it's like the US market there will be three or four major airline groups at the end.

“The Company announces that today it has received an Expression of Interest from the MSC Group and Lufthansa to acquire the majority of ITA Airways,”
And yet again the phoenix rises from the ashes.

It seems that shipping company MSC wants to invest between 1.2 and 1.5 billion euros in ITA while LH has said that for now it is mainly interested in a commercial partnership, suggesting that any investment in the capital, if any, will be very modest. Gianluigi Aponte, owner of MSC, an entrepreneur from Sorrento who resides in Switzerland and is financially very solid (208th richest man in the world) is behind the deal.
How much synergy can be found between a shipping and cruise liner company company and ITA?

Shipping companies are investing in airlines: Maersk, Hongyuan, CMA CGM, etc. Mainly for cargo. Maybe MSC is interested in developing freighter planes with ITA?

The lead time on getting (new) planes and an AOC are way shorter than building or finding another ship. There is a huge backlog waiting to be cleared due to covid. And if you have cruise ships, it's easier to offer package deals, flight included.

Gianluigi Aponte said today that synergies with ITA will be sought on the transport of passengers who want to board an MSC ship: "We can offer those who go on a cruise the opportunity to travel with us from home and to return to their home''
Turning to the cargo side, the MSC summit highlighted how planes could be used to increase supply, given that "our customers are constantly asking us for the possibility of transferring goods without using containers". In addition to this, Aponte highlighted the need to "move goods quickly"

Could ITA, and LH group, be getting into a new business model?
