Southwest Airlines ended the third quarter of 2021 with 737 B737s. :D

During 3Q 2021, the carrier took delivery of one B737-8 and does not expect any additional deliveries in 2021. Southwest still expects to return one leased B737-700 to the lessor in 4Q 2021, and recently made the decision to accelerate the retirement of eight B737-700s from 2022 into 4Q 2021, for a total of 18 retirements in 2021. The carrier expects to end 2021 with 728 total aircraft.

Southwest Airlines recently exercised a total of 16 B737-7 options for delivery in 2022 and 2023. The company’s order book with Boeing contains 399 MAX firm orders and 252 MAX options for the years 2021 through 2031.
