FAA safety engineer goes public to slam the agency’s oversight of Boeing’s 737 MAX.
The Seattle Times: "...Haunted by the two deadly crashes of Boeing 737 MAX jets and his agency’s role in approving the plane, veteran Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) safety engineer Joe Jacobsen is stepping forward publicly to give the victims’ families “a firsthand account of what the truth is.” In a detailed letter sent last month to a family that lost their daughter in the second MAX crash in Ethiopia two years ago this week, and in interviews with The Seattle Times, Jacobsen gave the first personal account by an insider of the federal safety agency’s response to the MAX crashes..."

Argentina CAA has officially lifted the ban on the operations of the B737 MAX 8 and 9 in the country.

Icelandair has returned the first B737 MAX to service in its flight schedule in early March 2021.

Vietnam CAA has proposed that the B737 MAX aircraft be allowed to pass through the country’s airspace after two years of grounding.

Emirates president Tim Clark says Boeing is ‘not getting it’ on B737 MAX, B777X and B787. The problems, he believes, are existential, systemic and solvable.

WestJet has cancelled orders for 15 B737 MAX aircraft amid a prolonged crisis for the industry. The carrier has 11 MAX jets in storage and another 27 remaining on order.

Attorneys Kenneth Feinberg and Camille Biros will be named to oversee a US$500 million victim compensation fund for the relatives of 346 people killed in two fatal B737 MAX crashes.

Oman CAA allows the B737 MAX to return to service.

Boeing appoints Ed Clark Jr. as the new head of its B737 MAX programme — the fifth executive to hold the post since 2018.

Good luck to him!

India’s DGCA is closely watching the performance of the B737 MAX in foreign jurisdictions, with final approval to take some time.

Air Peace of Nigeria reaffirmed its firm order of B737 MAX, following delivery of its second brand new E195-E2. The MAX will replace B737 Classics in the fleet.

Boeing begins ‘return to service’ work on five B737 MAX of erstwhile Jet Airways. The lessor owners will then place them with new operators r store them abroad.

Lessor Dubai Aerospace Enterprise announced it had substantially completed the agreement with American Airlines signed in 3Q 2020 to deliver 18 new B737 MAX 8s.

Enter Air of Poland resumed B737 MAX operations after a two-year break, flying from Katowice Airport to Tenerife.

LOT Polish Airlines has returned to service B737 MAX, which will operate flights to selected European cities. The carrier has five MAX in its fleet.

Southwest orders 100 MAX 7 Jets, and takes options of 155 more of either the MAX 7 or 8. It also converts 70 MAX-8 orders into MAX-7.
Southwest now has 349 MAX firm orders (200 MAX 7 and 149 MAX 8)

Lessor CALC entered into an agreement with Boeing to adjust its current aircraft order from 92 to 66 B737 MAX aircraft, and to reschedule the delivery of certain MAX.

Boeing asked a Delaware court to throw out a shareholders’ lawsuit over the safety of its B737 MAX following fatal crashes, saying the board engaged in “robust and well-established” oversight of jet’s development.

The FAA has approved the design for the B737-8200, part of the B737 MAX series, a necessary step before the US planemaker can begin delivering the aeroplanes to Ryanair.

Fiji Airways confirmed the acceptance of return-to-service requirements of the B737 MAX by its regulator, the CAA of Fiji.

Norwegian lawsuit against Boeing over the B737 MAX 8 grounding was sent back to an Illinois State Court by a federal judge. The carrier is suing the planemaker for US$1 billion.

Flydubai announced that its B737 MAX aircraft will return to passenger service from 08 April 2021. Four of its MAX 8s and one of its MAX 9s have now received regulatory approval to rejoin its fleet. The remaining nine MAX aircraft will return to passenger service over the coming months.

Vietnam has allowed B737 MAX planes to transit in the country after they were suspended in 2019 over safety concerns,
