I’d say that’s rather unlikely. They claim they want to have an easy phase-in of the second hand models. The A380s QR uses, are GP powered, whereas BA uses RR engines.

EASA has ordered inspections on some older A380s after some cracks were detected in wings.

FAA issues a new Airworthiness Directive affecting some operators of GP7000-series powered A380s, who will face more stringent engine fan hub assembly inspections.

Air Lease sees most A380 operators planning to phase out the aircraft at 12 years, likely replacing them with B787s or A350s. The B777-9 is currently not as attractive due to the lack of real-world data, which is weighed down by the price tag.

Airbus is considering the production of a corporate jet based on the A380, according to Emirates (UAE) executive.

Tarmac Aerosave at Tarbes (Lourdes) has now completed the parting-out of the first A380 (ex Singapore Airlines c/n 003 or 005).

Isn't that an awful waste in these times of circular economy? How many of those parts (percentage-wise) can be recycled?

ANA All Nippon Airways will be launching the third “FLYING HONU” A380 between Tokyo Narita and Honolulu in July 2020.

Lessor Dr. Peters Group (Germany) has negotiated a compensation agreement with Air France regarding its leased A380s. An overhaul of the aircraft will be skipped, and instead, the engines will be leased out to pay off the loan.

The last A380 wings left Broughton.

Aeroscopia at TLS will open the access to their A380 on 19 February 2020.

Qantas says that its plans to refurbish its A380s and retire its B747 remain on track, despite the coronavirus situation.
