A total cancelling of the route should have sounded even more real than this ..
As Inquirer, I also wonder if they'll show up in September.
But it's clear that the SN competition is behind this decision. Two daily A32S/737 is already quite some capacity, add another high density A320 and you get over capacity if you ask me. Air One probably experienced to low yield bookings combined with insufficient flight loads, even for a lowcost that's not good... And indeed, I wonder what will be different for them in September, except for the fact that they start after high season...

Well, do we know why they postponed the launch? It could be just an operational thing too...

Otherwise, this is the second route where the new entrant pulled out before starting up, the first one of course being AF which canceled their daily from TLS.

BTW, any updates about the U2 LPL-BRU route? Closed indeed, as rumoured?

Guess SN tactics are working on their defense side..

Guess this reason is the entrance on daily/two daily flight from CRL to MAN and their 'dumping'-fares.
Never believed in this route with that one daily late afternoon flight...

Is there already something known of winter Easyjet scheme concerning MXP-GVA-BER ?
Had guessed EZY would have start up a flight to Southend this year or another main airport.. BCN/MAD ..

Hard times for low cost @BRU ...
Seems the Airbus strategy do work.. hoping with this offcourse that they don't fly for peanuts this routes..

BTW if the market was indeed so big for VCE, an A321 would be great to compete
And would help some TLV,Moscou routes..

New types flown 2022.. A339

Have Easyjet already communicated this closure?
It ain't bookable, yet several other routes aren't either, so it could just be they haven't loaded any of their flights yet.... where's the rumour about the closure coming from, if I may ask?

cathay belgium wrote:Is there already something known of winter Easyjet scheme concerning MXP-GVA-BER?
Personally, I am interested in what they are going to do on Lyon too..
That's a one time per day route like Liverpool too with the same late evenig schedule, (in summer just even every other day) and from what I hear from family taking that flight to see their son, prices are always low and pax still relatively few. Sure, given the late timing of the flight, the opportunity cost must be low, so if the fares recover the fuel, fees and crewcost its probably okay, but I don't know if 60 X €45 is a solid revenue basis for them? If rumours are correct, it apparantly ain't for a Liverpool flight...

Hard times for all, I should think.
it seems indeed that the strategy to size up and compete, rather than to size down and step aside, is scaring off competitors which aren't interested in a prolongued price war.

Whether or not that also pays off financially is impossible to judge as an outsider: you'd have to know the extra cost from switching RJs to Airbus planes and compare that to the extra revenues they've managed to gain thanks to the switch. I don't suppose anybody has any meaningful info on that?

A while ago EasyJet did communicate that they opened the Liverpool reservations for winter 12/13 (at that moment only the routes out of Liverpool were available for reservation). So as BRU wasn't launched for reservation, I think you can see that as a confirmation...

not sure if someone already mentioned in this thread, but will AC resume a daily flight to YUL this summer season?
What is the equipment that will be used? An A330 again or will they continue flying a B763 as in winter season?
Thanks for your feedback!

thanks Bralo20, I appreciate it...
Too bad there are not using an A330 like in S11. Flights are full most of the time.

I think the reason was that they didn't have any A330 to spare at the moment but I've heard that BRU would make a good candidate to become one of the first 787 routes. But we'll have to wait another year (at least) to see if this is true since AC's 787's are starting to be delivered in 2014 the earliest.

One of the A310-300s will be based at Oujda Les Anglades and operate from there to Brussels and Paris Orly. It is surprising how quickly some popular models become rare birds. ( in passenger lay out ) The A310 , the MD-11, B727, B707 + DC-8, DC-10 ( ;) ) , Tri Star. And before we will realise it, we will see very few MD80 at BRU.
And how many B747 still visit BRU ? Once the "mothership" of Sabena, now a pretty seldom appearance. Am I right that there is not 1 B747 anymore as passenger airplane doing regular service to BRU ?
Same story with the A340. Not sure, but have all operators of the A340 to BRU not changed to another type?
I wonder if somebody could forward a statistic of arrivals per airplane type. I guess that it will be dominated mainly by B737 + A320 (90% together?) , A330 + B777 for long haul, some Embraers, the BAE's, B767 , a Fokker , a B757 and a Saab of OLT. And that will be it I guess. I don't even dare to mention birds from the USSR times anymore. ( < Aeroflot, Balkan Air, LOT, Tarom, Malev, CSA and Interflug )
Does it mean I am getting too old , or do I have to see it in the positive way of "progress and rationalisation" ?

And a few CRJ (e.g. SK or LH) and Q400 (e.g. SN)
Arrived this morning in FRA. Quite impressive: 4 A380, several A340, A330, B777, B747, B767, B787 (ANA), ...
Hope some of these type will come (more often) to BRU.
Although it is a good sign that companies like TK are sending already regular A330 in stead of their narrow bodies.
Rgds,
CRJ 900
PS This morning the A380 of SQ at FRA was surrounded by the fire brigade. They were handling a lot of what looked to me as ventilators. Anyone an idea what happened or could have happened?

Regi,

Soon and you don't see any MD-Bae AVRO-Fokkers anymore..
Once KLM F70, MD's of SAS , SN-LX Avro's are gone ...
B767 of some TATL maybe but will also be replaced by A330/B787...
Maybe some CS-series as replacement but future is looking quite dull indeed ..

Jetairfly route to Rabat is so successful that the period is already extended: Now from 23 June till 15 September, still twice weekly.
