Brussels, 23 June 2011
Thai Airways International PCL (THAI) is very pleased to announce the introduction of direct flights between Bangkok-Brussels v.v.
THAI will be the only South East Asian carrier to serve non-stop flights between Belgium and Thailand, starting from November 17th 2011 onwards.
Thai Airways International PCL will operate 3 flights per week departing Bangkok on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday and departing Brussels the same day. The direct flights from Brussels to Bangkok will enable all passengers to connect into THAI’s extensive network in Asia & Australasia, via Bangkok.
The new route will be operated by B777-200ER aircraft with 30 business class and 262 economy class seats, all with the latest in-flight entertainment systems.
The new flights between Bangkok and Brussels v.v. will be available for booking in July 2011.
Thai Airways International Public Company Limited is the national carrier of the Kingdom of Thailand and was founded in 1960. THAI operates domestic, regional and intercontinental flights radiating from its home base in Bangkok to key destinations around the world and within Thailand. THAI is a member of Star Alliance.

Re: Thai to serve BRU as from next fall!
Good news, let's hope for an arrival time in the afternoon or evening!
Re: Thai to serve BRU as from next fall!
Pretty much out of the blue ... if it's true, it would be great to see them back here @ BRU. But is this official ? Unless I am mistaken, there is no such announcement on http://www.thaiairways.be (nor on the global site) ?

Indeed. The news is nowhere to be found. Only the same text (copypaste?) on airliners.net etc. But no official link...capetown wrote:Pretty much out of the blue ... if it's true, it would be great to see them back here @ BRU. always nice to have a new long-haul carrier at BRU.
Welcome to BRU Thai Airways!

And the price?
It won't be cheap. I guess > 800 € low season, 1200 € high season in economy.
But...I would not be surprised that if a Belgian buys a ticket in a neighbouring country, it would come down to +- 700 €.
Would the B777 bring some cargo as well? Good for the fresh goods import in Belgium.

Competition for Jetairfly indeed.
A Belgian airline announced this route, but everybody is happy a Thai airline will perform the same flight. I just find this strange...

There is a big difference between a Belgian charter carrier and a Thai airline, member of the biggest airline alliance in the world...JAFflyer wrote: A Belgian airline announced this route, but everybody is happy a Thai airline will perform the same flight. I just find this strange...
I think you can't compare these two with eachother...

Excellent news! It would be a nice regular visitor to BRU.
I don't think SN is out of the game, they will surely cooperate on this, the consensus has always been that when possible the Asian carrier should run the route.
Congratulations to Thai on their return to BRU! Let's hope it'll steadily increase frequency in the coming seasons.

Re: Thai to serve BRU as from next fall!
Great news!
I saw on the facebook website of Brussels Airport:
http://www.facebook.com/home.php#!/page ... 9101365396
That someone commented that AA wants to start Miami-Bru with a 767. I am highly sceptical of this, but you never know. However, the same person mentioned the article/communication press release of Brussels airport confirming positive news. Does anyone know where we can find the press release so I can read it?
Thanks

Re: Thai to serve BRU as from next fall!
With all respect, but you can't compare a single weekly charter flight aimed solely at Belgian package tourists to a multiple weekly scheduled airlink between STAR alliance hubs, offering onward connections at both ends really: TG is no competion for JAF whatsoever, but more so for QR and EY and a nice win for the STAR hub in BRU! Now, fingers crossed for ANA!JAFflyer wrote:Competition for Jetairfly indeed.
