Qatar Airways has taken delivery of its first 4 of 30 Boeing 787-9s just before year end. A7-BHA, A7-BHB, A7-BHD, and A7-BHE arrived home in Doha today.

Boeing could be forced to cut production of its bigger B787s to 10 aircraft per month, amid a drought of orders from China and U.S., says John Plueger, CEO of Air Lease Corp.

Boeing is considering an additional production cut for its B787, possibly furthering its issues in its commercial aeroplanes division.

The production rate for the 787 Dreamliner will be cut further in early 2021 to just ten jets per month from the current 14 per month. Boeing said it hopes to hike the rate back up to building 12 jets per month in 2023.

Air Lease Corp converted 9 MAX in 3 787, Oman Air converted 10 MAX in 4 787.

Boeing says the B787 production rate will be reduced from 14 per month to 10 per month in 2020, and gradually reduced to 7 per month by 2022.

Hawaiian Airlines remains committed to the B787 as its flagship aircraft of the future, although it will no longer enter the fleet from 1H 2021. Talks are in progress with Boeing to determine whether the deliveries can be re-phased.
