It's not only Rolls-Royce that has problems with its 787 engines: the FAA ordered GE Aviation to replace high-pressure turbine stator cases on some GEnx turbofans. Those engines include variants of GEnx-1Bs, which power B787s, and GEnx-2Bs, which power B747-8s.

And the problems are ongoing.

We know already that BA hired Air Belgium to carry out some flights to CAI normally operated by B787.

Now Air New Zealand announced alterations to its winter 2018 schedules due to the ongoing issues with Boeing 787 aircraft.

The Sydney – Rarotonga route from 15th November will have a Boeing 777-200ER rather than the scheduled 787-9.

Flights to Vancouver from Auckland had been planned to be flown by 787-9 aircraft, however, due to the issues with the type, a 777-200ER will continue to operate the service. The extra flights previously planned from 7 to 8 or 9 flights a week from 10th December have been shelved for the time being. ANZ will upgrade to a 777-300ER on these dates 28th October, 10th November, 17th November and 1st December.

The planned increase in schedules on the Auckland to Buenos Aires will be cancelled and will remain at 5 flights a week with a 777-200ER continuing to operate the route.

The airline has confirmed it will use an EVA Air 777-300ER on the Auckland – Los Angeles route to operate flights NZ006/005 on several dates throughout the winter season.

And they have still a SQ B777-200ER (ZK-OKI) for AKL-HNL flights. (NZ9/NZ10)

El Al has cancelled one B787-8 on order with Boeing, as it adjusts its fleet ownership structure. The carrier now has commitments for 16 aircraft, comprising 12 B787-9s and four -8s.

United Airlines is the first airline to operate all three variants of the 787, -8 -9 -10

On social media: Emirates is the only carrier who flew ALL 6 777 variants, (200/200ER/200LR/300/300ER/777F). This will soon be all 8 with orders for both -8X and -9X coming.

Only British Airways and Air France have operated all A320ceo family. A318/A319/A320/A321. Air France did first as they got A318 in 2003 and not 2009 like BA. They remain the only two airlines to fly the A320-100 too.

Actually "to have flown" as there are no A320-100s flying for many years already. Though most airlines still show "A320-100/200" on their on-board safety card. :?

And now back to our regular programming : the B787. ;)

British Airways was forced to ground one of its new B787s at London Heathrow for nearly a year because of problems with RR engines.

After the MCAS problems plaguing the 737 MAX, the New York Times has discovered that the manufacturing of the Boeing 787 at the South Carolina plant has also a lot of issues that could have negatives effects on the safety of the aircraft.

Gulf Air has entrusted maintenance of the APS5000 APU equipping the airline’s 10 new B787-9s to EPCOR. The long-term contract includes a guarantee covering APU replacement.

Gulf Air signed with Safran an agreement to equip the airline’s new fleet of 10 B787-9s and 12 A320neos with Safran Landing Systems wheels and brakes.

FAA is mandating new flight control software and parts on B787 to address what it called an unsafe operating condition of certain products on the plane.
