Severe turbulence (according to ICAO) is defined as
Turbulence that causes large, abrupt changes in altitude and/or attitude. It usually causes large variations in indicated airspeed. Aircraft may be momentarily out of control.
Occupants are forced violently against seat belts or shoulder straps. Unsecured objects are tossed about. Food Service and walking are impossible.
What appel says, is mostly referred to as "extreme turbulence":
Turbulence in which the aircraft is violently tossed about and is practically impossible to control. It may cause structural damage.

For me that's more than moderate turbulence, 9 persons injured!
Agree, I would also call that more then "moderate turbulence". But I just took over exactly what The Aviation Herald wrote - and Simon knows better then us how it has to be called: "...was descending through FL290 about 90nm southwest of Montreal on approach to Montreal when the aircraft flew through a zone of moderate turbulence lasting less than a minute..."

Bulgaria's Transport Ministry said, contradicting Bulgarian media reports of a fuel leak, that the aircraft diverted because of a cargo fire indication.

Anyone more news on OO-DJY? On the website of Bilbao Airport and Flight Tracker it is still mentioned as on route and on time arrival at 11h55. We are way past 11h55. Return flight indeed indicated as canceled. Did it actually land in Bilbao or was it diverted?

About 20.00 this 3 Nov at Warsaw Chopin Airport, a LOT Boeing 737-4Q8 (B734) registered SP-LLK that had taken off to Brussels as LO233 made an emergency landing. After refueling the plane took off again to Brussels, where it is announced with 4 hrs 15 min delay.
There is bad weather at Chopin Airport. Thick fog causes some flights to be cancelled and some aircraft to be diverted to other airports.
This is WAW airport information about the above flight: "Dziś po godzinie 20.00 na naszym Lotnisku miało miejsce lądowanie awaryjne samolotu PLL LOT LO231 lecącego do Brukseli. Samolot po przejściu kontroli i uzupełnieniu paliwa wyruszył ponownie w rejs do Brukseli." and a few minutes later: "W naszą niedawną informację o dzisiejszym lądowaniu awaryjnym samolotu lecącego do Brukseli wkradł się błąd. tzn. był to rejs LO233, a nie jak podaliśmy wcześniej LO231"
The following flight LO231 will also arrive in BRU with 2 hrs 20 min delay.
