Maybe they start thinking when they have the number of job lost because of their action. They already said it costed 70 millions euro to the belgian economy.

Now, is it really easy to find an airport with the same ratio quality/price in Germany ?
I guess we can find the airlines just by looking the logs of Hahn or other cheap airport around.
I still think Thai is a good guess.
I wish you are correct.
But in this present case, it seems that Luc Partoune was talking about KALES (who flew out of AMS, on Friday).
By-the-way, KALES were using XCR (Vatry). So let's wait next week in order to see what's going on.

In the P.R., LGG were talking about 70 flights cancelled...hard to believe so many flights were scheduled !
Blame for strike at the airport should be on TRANSCOM Liege (FGTB Transports) who has organized the mass (illegal) picketing at Bierset. As usual, police on spot didn't intervene when workers tried to enter.
Airport was not the only place where the troubles maker "performed" http://www.lameuse.be/regions/liege/201 ... 4356.shtml

40 inbound + 10 outbound flights for TNT (on saturdays morning, outbout is light for TNT) + 10 inbound + 10 outbound flights for other operators: we are at 70 flights.

As far as Kales is concerned, you may be right. But Kales is a broker, not an airline. I would guess they fly from where their customers ask for, especially for charters.

70 flights seems very realistic for me too.
But it's hard to imagine Kales could have 4 flights a week with 742 every week ... would be nice though ...

Does anybody know what is the traffic rights issue with Belle Air in LGG?

Thanks in advance.

I just know what they say in the press release: http://www.liegeairport.com/uploaded/Pr ... irport.pdf

On the Belleair time table, both LGG and BRU are listed. But still no flight in LGG... So, just wondering if somebody knows more about this.

No, it was thai flights from Thailand, but they lease SOO planes indeed.
In LGG, in the begining, it was suppose to be "test" flights, to test the handling company. Now it's more regular, but only 1x week on wed, isn't it ? (In MST it was charters, very likely for flowers, like the big majority of flight to MST.)

It's now confirmed by the airport mgmt that they may have lost the investor because of the strike:
http://www.rtbf.be/info/regions/detail_ ... id=5737703

There is now a lot of nervosity between LGG and the union, as you would expect.

An other piece of information:

I may understand all this "dramatization" about this issue. I do not understand how unions can claim to have organized the strike, in total transparency, with LGG mgmt ! (surrealistic)
Now would be time time to cool down a bit. Hard to believe that a close agreement would collapse because of a one day strike. That 's why I still hope positive news about Thai.
Having said that; again, unions have shown their unability to learn lessons from the past.

Hello!
About Belle Air:

Belle Air has created a sister company, named Belle Air Europe. This airline is going to operate direct flights Liège-Pristina from 27/03, on thursday and sunday (from 07/04 for thursday), with an A319.
http://www.belleaireurope.eu

Direct flights Liège-Tirana will resume in june (one flight/week (sunday), and two flights/week (thursday and sunday) during summer), operated by the "original" Belle Air.

thanks a lot for the info !!
happy to see they didn't leave completely (maybe they created this sister company in Italy to avoid the problem with the traffic rights)

I would like to see them flying to Skopje (.... but again, traffic right problems, I guess)

About the strike, when you read comments on lalibre.be, it's clear that everybody agree that the union is thoughless and irresponsible. The problem is that only a very few people is enough to create a massive mess. We, the majority of the population, seem unable to control the lunatic behaviour of those people. The bad guys always win.

Malaysia cargo did a flight yesterday
LIEGE - BASEL - KUALA LUMPUR using Southern Air 742.
Charter or not, hard to say, normally this flight is ex AMS

I've seen also a fedex MD11, but that's very likely a horse charter again.

This is not a flight usually operated out of AMS. The AMS flights are routed AMS-Tashkent-Kuala Lumpur-Shanghai. Furthermore, no cancellations out of AMS yesterday (we even had 2 MH flights yesterday). Thus it must be a charter.

Confirmation that there are some talking going on between Thai and LGG.
There are also talking with CAL and Elal for expansion.

http://www.lalibre.be/economie/actualit ... erset.html

It would be a good news that one (or both) of those 2 projects succeed, it seems LGG has difficulties to attract new companies and continues its (crazy-charleroi-like) growth.
