Gentlemen, can we please avoid political discussions here and remain on topic: Latest news of Liège Airport.

For political discussions, there are other forums. I will not give you their addresses, it's not my role, but they are easy to find.

Yes the 3 777 should bring some volume, but that's all, nothing else new planned. if we are lucky : around 35-45.000 tons per annum (vague estimation).

Btw, I work in IT, nothing related to aviation. I'm just an enthousiat, like many people here. But I would have a lot of fun in the marketing dept in LGG indeed ;) but that's way too political for me.

From Johan Vanneste on Twitter:

If my data is correct, TNT is now largest airline in Belgium, operating largest aircraft: 47 in total, plus 3 x 777F and 1x757 on the way.

To be precise: 4x747-400ERF, 4x767, 2xA300, 4x757, 13x737 (more on the way), 20xBAe146, + before end of the year 3x777F (new), 1x757 combi.

Is there any replacement plan? If so, which type of aircraft and how many?

They have bought/leased? B737-400 which(edit) are being converted to freighters

I guess you are refering to the renewal of the 737 fleet, not the replacement of the BAE. Unless you have other good sources...

Mr. Vanneste is wrong here.
1/ TNT is not an airline, but an international express mail company

2/ part of this company is a road network and an air network (where the road network is by far the largest part of the company!)

3/ several airlines are contracted by TNT to operate these aircraft, the largest being TNT Airways (Belgium) and PanAir (Spain), both being full subsidiaries of TNT

4/ TNT Airways, registered company in Belgium (nv/sa) has the following aircraft on its AOC:
4x BAe146-200QT (OO-TAQ, OO-TAR, OO-TAU, OO-TAW)
8x BAe146-300QT (OO-TAA, OO-TAD, OO-TAE, OO-TAF, OO-TAH, OO-TAK, OO-TAS)
2x BAe146-200QC (OO-TAY, OO-TAZ)
2x B737-300F (OO-TNA, OO-TNB)
4x B737-300SF (OO-TNC, OO-TNE, OO-TNH, OO-TNL)
1x B737-300QC (OO-TNG)
2x B737-400SF (OO-TNN, OO-TNO)
4x B747-400ERF (OO-THA, OO-THB, OO-THC, OO-THD)

That makes a total of 27 aircraft, not 47 and even including the 6 BAe146-200 of PanAir we're still only at 33 aircraft and not the largest airline in Belgium. And even though more 737's are on the way, the current fleet is being phased-out at the same time so that has no effect on the size of the fleet.

The B767's, A300's, B757's are operated by ABX, Gestair, Air Atlanta, Icelandair. They don't carry a Belgian registration and are not on TNT Airways' AOC.

Kind regards,
GR

Indeed. I just got the reply from Johan Vanneste himself: those are ABX Airborne Express A/C currently N312AA and N740AX operating for TNT.

Adding to my previous post:

Apart from OO-TNG, 2x BAe146-200QT will be phased-out this year as well: OO-TAR and OO-TAQ
Possibly 1 from PanAir as well, and that would be EC-HDH

Rumours are they will be scrapped on site in LGG...

Kind regards,
GR.

Sounds nice, but I got a reduction of almost 300 € a person to Djerba flying Tunisair from Brussels in the second week of Easter Holiday. The funny thing was that it was not anounced on the website of Neckermann, but the lady in the ticket office 500 meter from my house gave an extra discount.
Please don't read this as a criticism on Liège airport. But it is just a remark that when you see an advertisement, it doesn't mean that the deal is a once in a life time opportunity. ;)
I would suggest to all travellers: keep on talking to your travel agents. Latest example: 589 € Brussel-LHR-BKK with Qantas in second half of July at Joker. But not on their website, only after taking contact with the office !
