Even with the latest 787 problems? The 787 schedule is (again) in jeopardy following Trent 1000 testbed failure. See http://www.flightglobal.com/articles/20 ... stbed.htmlsmokejumper wrote:"Airbus is in more schedule trouble than Boeing was with the 787."

Asked to comment, an Airbus spokesperson told, “We don’t have any basis to confirm the data in the Bernstein report.” Airbus has reassured the market in the past that the program is on track for a 2013 first delivery.smokejumper wrote:Flight Blogger story suggests that the SED of the A-350 will slip. If there is a slip in sched. i will not be suprised. Something of this scale is always prone to delays.

Re: Service Entry Date of A-350?
I will be (really) surprised when EIS is in 2013, as scheduled.
The first slips in the 787 program were known (made public) one year before planned EIS back then, so what Airbus claims for now is still worh nothing imo. Also, the A380 production ramp up isn't really without problems either so far...

They are not behind shedule yet. But they used all the margin they had left. They moved back the start of the early production with a few months and they reduced the time for the flight tests from 15 to 12 months to back up this delayed production start.cnc wrote:i doubt they are behind already, problems will arise when the actual building of the prototypes begin
What they mean with "Airbus is in more schedule trouble than Boeing was with the 787" is that Airbus has now more shedule trouble than Boeing had with their 787 at that stage of development.
But the project isn't actually delayed yet, as they just used their margin. But if anything will go wrong now, they will have their first delay. The worst time still has to come, look at the 787 and the A380... And hopefully Airbus has some more luck with their sub contractors (Boeing is tinking about buying Alenia out of the 787 project after they failed several times to achieve quality standards).
