Didn't know where to put that one: SN used a Flybe Dash8 for a Berlin flight this afternoon. All "real" planes busy on charter and various vacations flights.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Is there already an idea what might happen with the destinations which are now exclusively done by BMI?skumfiduse wrote: ↑12 Jun 2017, 06:34 once Flybe's Q400's and bmi E145's have left when end of contract.
PS: I hope Brussels Airlines will resume flights to Helsinki and Riga one day!
Nueremberg, Bristol and Bremen?
Will BMI do them on their own or will SN use other planes?
And for HEL, I really believe there's room for competition.
RIX not so much, it's already BT versus FR. The few times I flew BT between BRU and RIX it was rather empty.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Is it sure that the bmi contract will be terminated? There is a need for small aircraft on some routes. bmi is flying the Newcastle route on its own (and not on behalf of SN, which is nevertheless codesharing on the route). I can imagine that if the bmi contract comes to an end, bmi might take over the routes.

Fleet changes agreed to:
-) regional wetleases consolidated to SSJ as from next summer, so no more Q400 or E-jet to a total of 6
(i.e. 1 regional wetlease less than today)
-) the production of 1 plane upgraded to A319
-) the production of 4 A319 upgrraded to A320
All in all, again a considerable increase in ASK, especially as this is on top of the Thomas Cook deal which will massively boost production already! Aim is to welcome well over 10 million passengers.
Also, frequencies to BOM will be increased....

Just a few comments:
Today, SN is already using 2 Q400 and at least 2, sometimes 3, ERJ145 from bmi and I see at least 3 SSJ flying fo SN every day; moreover the 3 remaining Avros (that are still active) are supposed to leave the fleet at the end of the year, if I remember well; that makes a total of 11, even though some of them may not be currently used at their full potential. But a total of 6 SSJs to replace them all seems a bit tight, unless more flghts/destinations are upgraded to Airbus.
SN could also consider more brand new "regional" (meaning low density) destinations to feed its long-haul flights; in that case, wouldn't an own small fleet of 8 to 10 SSJs be justified?
I realize that winter schedule is usually lighter than the summer one, but on the other end, you loose capacity during the (more and more numerous) maintenance checks.
Your comments welcome.
And , btw, any news on the l/h fleet? The increase of frequency on BOM is good news and a sign that this new destination is doing well I presume.
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Unfortunately, while BOM will receive an extra flight this winter, another one will be downgraded because of seasonality.
Tolipanebas, it s a bit difficult with all the info we had on this topic to visualise how the fleet will look like.
If i summurise correctly, it should be
16 a319
16 a320
10 a330 (x 200 and y 300)
6 ssj100
It makes a total of only 48 aircraft while we have 53 at the moment so i guess i m wrong.
And what about the a321?
Thanks for your info, always nice to read you.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Can we expect some seasonal destinations to become year-round (for ex. St Petersburg, Thessaloniki, etc...), increase some frequencies (ex. Yerevan, bordeaux) and some new ones as well (ex. Helsinki, kiev, Belgrade, etc...) In any case exciting news!
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Bordeaux become a year round destination, Rome will have more frequencies, Edimburgh will be upgraded to a319, Billund toi a SSj100. For the new destination, Therese will be normally all the destination of TCAB. Not that bad isn't it

Hopefully the social dumping at Cityjet will be fixed by then: https://www.aviation24.be/forums/viewtopic ... 73#p353973tolipanebas wrote: ↑31 Jul 2017, 10:53

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
I wonder why the fleet will be renewed, knowing that Lufthansa is taking over Brussels Airlines..
Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
Hi...why 16 A319 ? There are 22 right now no ? Some must leave ? Thx !crew1990 wrote: ↑31 Jul 2017, 14:28 Unfortunately, while BOM will receive an extra flight this winter, another one will be downgraded because of seasonality.

Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal
From what i understood in this topic 3 A319 are leaving, 4 are replaced with a320 and a new a319 is coming to replace one of the q400 leaving. So 22-3-4+1=16
For the A320 it was written that 4 a319 would be replaced with a320, plus the 2 a320 from TCW. So 10+4+2=16
But i guess there is a mistake somewhere
