The following news was reported earlier by one of our members, but has been removed as company-confidential information. Since it had been divulged elsewhere, we can reproduce it here now:

During the height of the summer season, Brussels Airlines will wet-lease a WDL Bae146.

This aeroplane has already been flying during the past few days, as can be seen in the daily posts in the "Planespotting - Belgium" forum.

It seems that the flight to Goteborg will get an increase in capacity as for the moment there is 3 daily flight, 2 operated on Avro RJ100 and 1 on A319, from end October it seems it will become 1 flight on Avro RJ100 and 2 on A319. The night stop flight will then be on A319.

This show that the phasing out of the last 12 Avro RJ100 are on their way.

I doubt that it has something to do with the phase out of the Avro. The nightstop GOT used to be on Airbus before.

Probably it has more to do with counterattacking SAS for launching the route GOT-BRU.

In this case this is not competition as SAS an Brussels Airlines are partner on the routes and both are code sharing on each direction.

I do think it have to do with the phase out of the Avro there are less and less Avro having night stop now. When GOT will be on airbus the only stop which will remain will be.

Edimburgh
Birmingham
Toulouse
Marseille
Milan
Oslo
Stockolm

I guess at least 1 Avro will be leaving in September.

You can hardly call these 3 flights per week tough competition anyway. But indeed as far as I know SAS and SN don't codeshare on any of the direct flights between BRU and Scandinavia.

Sorry, I was wrong my mistake, but still this is not 3 weekly flight from SAS which will compete with the 3 daily flights of Brussels Airlines.

Does anyone know something about the renewal of the fleet?

Also, rumours go that an A330 will join the fleet at the end of the year. Anyone an idea where this a/c will come from?

The rumour says that another A330 will be added next year.

What I heard (so not sure) is that there would be 2 A330 add for the next summer, 1 for the expansion and the other to replace OO-SFM.

I hope both of them will be A330-200 it would be good to have some more of them instead of the 300 to make less triangula flight possible.

The last rumor about new possible destinations are Montreal, Newark, Boston, Lagos, Libreville and Mumbai if Jerairways would leave, I wonder which will be the expansion for next year!

The A330 that would arrive at the end of the year, would serve to replace a330s going in c-check during the winter season.
Also hear the same destinations that you mentioned. But I'm afraid that triangular flights will continue for a while...

Nice to see them adding capacity on long distance routes too for next year, if confirmed.
Would also match a hint given here some time ago by tolipanebas, staring they'd add long haul routes too.
Probably the ability to do so is linked to them having firmly returned to profitability by now, I'd bet?
Its so much easier to get green light on expansion plans if you can show black figures first.
Good news for Brussels and Belgium.
Fingers crossed.

Actually, I find the strategy of SN for the moment quite good, more charter and leisure operation to ensure that the aircraft are used to an optimal way including during weekend and holidays. Operations which are bringing a lot of money in order invest this cash on the expansion of the company.

In the meanwhile some new business destination, Bremen, Billund Zagreb etc... and later on maybe Nuremberg, Linz and Nantes if slot are granted can bring the passenger to feed the long haul flight.

I guess an A330 in Star Alliance livery is more likely to happen than an A350 in Brussels Airlines colours.

(just an opinion, not based on any information.)
