Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Chatting with a CCM on a Kigali flight recently.
She said surprised that her qual 330/319-320 has been extended to the A321.

Anything in this announcing a bright future?

has always been the case, just like the 737 which mentioned up until -900 so the airbus is A319/A320/A321, noting new I'm afraid

Why not "upgrading" it earlier? They only discovered that A321 was the same family than 318,319 and 320?

Air Belgium btw had vacancies for A330/A340 pilots, as they knew the Cockpit was approximately the same.

If her qual changes to A321 only now, it can be a sign, maybe she will fly for Eurowings, or Eurowings is coming to Brussels or, impossible, A321s at Brussels Airlines.

They can use the A321 of "Sierra Bravo Airlines" aka VLM Airlines NV, as lease for Brussels Airlines instead...

It’s just the A32F - F = family

exactly thees what i meant to say Luchtzak ;)
so hold your horses... it’s no sign of a possible A321 coming to Brussels, and the VLM A321 has their own trained crew

And Eurowings doesn't fly any A321 at this moment...

Agreed and she was more amused than worried or enthusiastic; she had just noticed that recently the A321 had been added.
She loves flying LH (don't get overexcited Carsten, I just mean Long Haul ;) ) and is happy about these good ol' 330s.
Crew change is now (back to) EBB which gives time for such chat.
Adios hotel des Mille Collines in Kigali but not back to the Speke Resort in Kampala :(

Actually this triangular flight almost prevented me from getting the upgrade that I asked.
BRU-KGL-EBB was initially full in C, some seats becoming free only on the EBB-BRU segment. The mighty system cannot handle a KGL-EBB in Y followed by an EBB-BRU in C as my ticket was KGL-BRU.
Anyhow, a no-show solved it.
These flights are packed. Outbound had no more than a couple empty seats and the inbound was 100%LF.
C is very nice of course with typical SN caring crew and this flat bed to enjoy on a rather long night flight, but the Economy Privilege I took on the way down is well worth the extra 120 EUR.
OK, my butt and my money.

the A321 was already there for years (I've been at the company for 7 years now and it was there already in 2011)

The 3 remaining A333s that will come to SN from LH for the EW-Ops will leave LH in FEB,JUN and OCT19.

OO-SFN arrived this morning from DSS as SN206.
It was the last commercial flight for SFN!
Best regards,

I had heard that SFM is the second to leave (anybody a date for her last flight?) after SFN, and then SFO.
I'm flying SFO this morning and it may be one of the last time I'll fly on board this old lady.

PS : Rather unusual low numbers for AFI flights this morning at Check-in. Passport control at T gates also went like a breeze.
Also on a positive note, there is still room to grow at Brussels Airport. The queue for PP control at the B Pier started almost at the opposite end of the Connector but there was still room for another 10 extra meters.

Don’t think the pilots will let you fly, so you will be flying “in” or “on” SFO.

OO-SFN currently on its way to BRU from DSS as SN206 :) . It was brought back from retirement late this morning (some time was needed to remove the mothballs I presume ;) ) for the SN205 flight.

Last excursion?

Most likely.
Another aircraft was in maintenance during SFN’s “last” rotation, can’t remember which one. From the get-go, it was obvious timing would be extremely tight to get the first aircraft ready for its scheduled flight.
Apparently, things didn’t work out and SFN was put back on line for a last trip.
