It appears that the 2 Flybe Q400's will be replaced by a (4th) SSJ100 and an A319.

I just saw that the Birmingham night stop, currently operated by cityjet will now be operated by A319 in September. I guess then that the SSJ100 will operate the Nantes, Billund, Stockholm and Edimburgh flights isn't it?

Maybe to start a second evening flight to Newark.
Or maybe two flights to Dakar instead of one?!?!
And maybe with enough range direct flights to Luanda...but I don't think it's possible.

EWR would be UA's call ... as it's their homebase... UA could still do it with the 757 as their daily EWR flight works pretty well with 95% load factor (although not every day)

I understand but nothing is moving about the second flight of UA, but this was only one option for the use of the Airbus A319LR.
It could give some flexibility to some flights with a lot of competition like Dakar.

The ceo told some months ago that the A321LR is (was) currently being reviewed. Mother company Lufthansa has also expressed interest in the aircraft type last year.

Imo, it is a very interesting aircraft, but you'll need a sizeable subfleet to make return on investment /added complexity. I don't see the point of having just 2 or 3 A321LR in the fleet.

If they were fitted with proper business class, they could be an interesting substitute (economics to be checked of course) for A320s on medium haul destinations such as TLV, DMD, the Canaries, Funchal, in addition to US/Canada East coast and West Africa, and maybe to open a couple of destinations in the Gulf, competition of the ME3 permitting.
Then, a fleet of 8 to 12 aircraft could possibly be reached gradually.

Would belly cargo space be a limiting factor on the A321LR?

Would the 757 be a cheaper option? Could it do the trick?

BOS, TLV, JFK evening flight, IKA and smaller destinations in western Africa such as Banjul (to stay ahead of competition SN will have to offer more non-stop flights but the A330's are too large for some cities).

757 would absolutely make no sense (maintenance, pilot training etc.).
A321's can also be used on the busier European routes (however they would have a long haul business class config so less seats in total than the A320 for example).
The only pro-757 argument is that the SN-management seems to like old crap.
