Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

I really don't know why some people keep coming up with a A340, let alone a -600. SN doesn't need such a big bird at the moment. The A340 really is an aircraft of the past, it's already out of production for 7 years.

If you like to dream about a bigger aircraft for SN, start with the A350. It's unlikely in the next 5 years, but maybe thereafter

The fact that it was a buy on board service wasn't know yet as in the other wet lease, this is not the case

Flybe offers the BOB as well only credit card payment .. while BMI give a full service in all classes

Some of Aer Lingus's Dublin - Gatwick rotations will use a leased Cityjet SSJ instead of one of their own A320's.
In particular, the following rotation will definitely be using the SSJ:

Dublin - Gatwick
Gatwick - Knock
Knock - Gatwick
Gatwick - Dublin

Certainly a downgrade for Knock.
Possibly part of Dublin - London capacity review with BA.
Or simply a chance to redeploy the bigger A320 on profitable summer routes.

So IAG is another wetlease customer of theirs then? Interesting indeed.

It seems lke Cityjet is quickly building a business model on providing network airlines with an affordable solution to operate (new or additional) flights which are too thinly booked to fly their bigger mainline airplanes on, thus allowing them to cut their (self-)operating costs without cutting the flight itself.
It's a bit the BMI business model too, but then in a differently sized market segment.
It's something which has been quite commonly seen in the USA since years, but so far it wasn't in the EU: that seems to have chanced now.

It's already going on for years here too... Just here at Brussels alone, Schreiner Airways operated Dash 8's and ATR's for Sabena for well over 10 years...

American Airlines are expected to retire their entire A333 fleet (9 copies) from next year .. I don't know the exact status of these aircrafts, could it be of interest for SN 's purpose ?

Those planes are all 16 - 17 years old at the moment. Not much of a 'renewal'...

Indeed, the last joined A330 (OO-SFX) is only 7 years old. I guess they'll go more to those type of A330 rather than taking 15 years old aircrafts.
