Re: Brussels Airlines' fleet renewal

Post by sn26567 »

May I remind our gentle readers that this topic is about SN fleet renewal, not about SN bus or rail connections. Maybe you should open a new topic about the latter?

Edit: Done!

I see in the official Belgian Aircraft Register of FPS Mobility that B733 OO-LTM (formerly Korongo) is still registered under the name of Brussels Airlines. I thought that it had been dismantled. Can someone please tell me its current status?

Last time I saw it (18/7), it was parked near the frames of DJE and DJF (at the fire department) without engines and radome (and probably a lot of other stuff)

Last thing I heard was that it has been 'donated' to the BRU fire department (after it likely has been stripped of all valuable parts). Wasn't it on this forum that this was mentionned somewhere? Or was it a BAC communication (internal or external) some time ago?

Have a look on Pierre Gillard's blog:

OO-LTM Boeing 737-3M8 MSN 25070, ex-Korongo Airlines - Brussels-National - EBBR - 01-07-2016.

You can also seen this plane if you fly BAF from EBMB, when taxying back to the military apron

Indeed, but at least it gets a practical use in it's current form rather than becoming new coca cola cans

I guess it has been stripped of all parts that could be re-used/recycled...

Tolipanebas previously hinted that LTM was going to be sold off.
What a shame, but there probably wasn't a taker for this frame.

I invite those interested to continue the debate of LH/IAG in the SN future prospective thread.

If SN doesn't want to do it, others will. Aer Lingus is expected to announce decision on a potential A321LR order by the end of 2016. For flights to North America. Smart move!

This is discussed in another topic: https://www.aviation24.be/forums/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=59091

To come back to the fleet renewal topic, a 10th A330 will be added before year end to enable those flights to BOM.

I flew on OO-SNE today (deliverd to SN in march). Nice bird! You can see immediately that this is a newer aircraft...

With A320 and A330 a/c it is quite easy to see by the overhead seatbelt and no smoking signs and also the sidewall panels in the cabin. They started using the newer design about 10 years ago.

Very strange they're doing that in the middle of the Summer season, whilst they're using several wet-leased aircraft for some of their flights. (Are they still using the WDL Avro 146?). Lack of crews?

Lease-out is purely based on contractual dates. Wet leased is different.
