A nice/logical/soft shift from the Avros to the airbusses finally!
Most surprising to me is this focus on Europe again instead of long haul. Is the planned 3rd US destination cancelled?

Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
VCE will move to an all airbus service too, for instance, 3 times daily.crew1990 wrote:Yes I already see that the Bilbao flight will now be operated on Airbus, no Avro anymore.
The RJs move on to EDI and other Q400 routes.
News on long haul expansion will come after summer....
Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
Regarding some member of the forum there will be no A330 added to the fleet because SN can t find it. But i find very strange that Hi Fly manageg to fing 3 A330-200 on second hands wich will join the fleet soon while SN doesn t find any!
In the mean time I checked the time table for the long haul flight of this summer and it will look like that:
Monday: Dakar/Banjul
Freetown/Monrovia
Abidjan/Ouagadougou
Yaounde/Douala
Kinshasa
Kigali/Entebbe
New York
(7 departures)
Tuesday: Dakar/Conakry
Abidjan/Cotonou
Yaounde/Douala
Kinshasa/Luanda
Kigali/Nairobi
Washington
New York
(7 departures)
Wednesday: Dakar/Banjul
Freetown/Monrovia
Yaounde/Douala
Kinshasa
Kigali/Entebbe
New York
(6 departures)
Thursday: Dakar/Conakry
Abidjan/Lomé
Yaounde/Douala
Kinshasa//Luanda
Kigali/Nairobi
Washington
New York
(7 departures)
Friday: Dakar/Banjul
Freetown/Monrovia
Abidjan/Ouagadougou
Douala/Kinshasa
Nairobi/Bujumbura
Washington
NewYork
(7 departures)
Saturday: Dakar/Banjul
Abidjan/Cotonou
Younde/Douala
Kinshasa
Kigali/Entebbe
Washington
New York
(7departures)
Sunday: Dakar/Conakry
Freetown/Monrovia
Abidjan/Lomé
Yaounde/Douala
Kinshasa/Luanda
Nairobi/Bujumbura
Washington
New York
(8 departures)
There is so an average of 7 flight per day for 8 aircraft. There is so some room for a third US destination like for axemple 4 weekly Boston or New York in the evening. There would even be still some rome to add some frequency in Africa!

Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
Possible candidate for one of the A319s joining SN fleet soon?

Can t wait to see them enter the SN fleet! These birds are really needed to face some compétition @ BRU! Even if I would have thought about 1-2 A330s before...

Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
I will miss the Avros, a highlight when someone arrives in BRU.
Myy face was surely priceless when I entered a 737-00 in Lisbon, looked out the window, and saw a winglet.
It was like "WTF"?
For a second I felt insane until I remembered the winglets could be retrofitted, never thougt someone would bother with 733...

On 19th of March SN next A320 OO-SNG left for SNN for her paintjob
Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
Nouvelair just stored her A321 TS-IQA, ex Sabena aircraft OO-SUA. Aircraft from 1999 so 15 years old.
Maybe a good oportunity for SN as they like to take back the old aircraft of Sabena.

TS-IQA became/is going to become D-ASTW for Germania.crew1990 wrote:Nouvelair just stored her A321 TS-IQA, ex Sabena aircraft OO-SUA. Aircraft from 1999 so 15 years old.

TS-IQB, ex OO-SUB, will become D-ASTV Germania soon.
So both A321 will stay together.

Re: Replacement of Brussels Airlines' Boeing & Avro RJ fleet
I will miss the Avro RJ's. I flew a lot with them for example from BMA with full powered engines for t/o due to the short rwy. Can an Airbus replace the Avro in BMA?

No I guess, except if modified, as Meridiana uses A319 at FLR...
