Yes,these flights were a great initiative. I was on SN1005 and the planes were really full. But, as far as I'm correct, they were able to offer it for such low prices as personnel wasn't paid that day. The reason why it never was organised again during 'Openbedrijvendag'.

The first flight is expected for the first quarter of 2011 (from Lubumbashi via Kinshasa to Johannesburg)

Will the blacklisting delay the start?

So what? Even if Korongo is blacklisted in the EU, that does not prevent it from flying in the D R Congo or elsewhere in Africa.

Brussels Airlines is taking care of things like maintenance and crew training,... to prevent them to become blacklisted. Not really because of operational problems, but for the image of the airline.

Having this reported in the news is definitely a PR issue, even as this could be part of a normal process, however the diplomatic language says what it says: no new info received from the RDC.

As far as Star Alliance and other partners of SN are concerned, don't count on them advertising or even using Korongo if they stay on the list, there is just too much credibility at stake for a very local opportunity.

This could also be the nail in the coffin some might be secretly hoping for.
