Re: First Lufthansa A380 getting ready
Sorry to say but it's a dead boring colour scheme...
Yes, Lufthansa has always cut wisely on the costs of over complex colours schemes and frequent rebranding, but seriously, it has really become dull now....
It's a pitty Air Comet will never receive A380's, at least they would have sported some colour!!

Not more boring than on any other Lufthansa plane. But at leats Lufthansa keeps its livery unchanged, which means recognisable all over the world for decades. It is an effective way to advertise the brand.Captain Remi wrote:Sorry to say but it's a dead boring colour scheme...
If Brussels Airlines had kept the SN before its name and the S on the tail it would also have nicely served its brand recognition...

cost cutting !
Interesting. I have no clue what the impact is of expensive paint jobs is on sales figures. When you are in the boarding room and look at the airplane you will take , and it looks boring, do you think "next time I take Gulf Air with that great gold paint" ?
Another disadvantage about expensive computerised paint jobs in all kind of different colours all over the airplane is that it has to be redone after some years. First stripping, than repainting.
So the less colour and the less surface painted cuts costs today but also for the future.
And we have the weight issue as well.

Re: First Lufthansa A380 getting ready
Hi,
Agree with all, prefer also nice liveries but they don't make sense in an economical way,
or it must be advertising as before FR Kilkenney,Jaguar,...
But last monday I saw in FRA a LH plane with under the tail a MICE !,
compare with MegaMindy of TC !
These details could make some advertising ..easier !
But we have to wait here for another CX-AZ 'BACI' planes-Concorde 'PEPSI'..
Altough the RETRO liveries are a clear spot in the dull liveries of our european planes..

We're all waiting for KAL's A380 livery.
All-blue.....that should be good. Too bad we won't get to see it this year.

Re: First Lufthansa A380 getting ready
In my opinion, the Lufthansa livery fits great on the A380!
Sterile, but also professional, uniform, straight.
Sure the livery of Thai (as on their 345's) is wonderful.
But doesn't a classic livery has it's charmes too?

Lufthansa announced their routes for new A380 - Tokyo and Beijing. Too bad their seating is the second densest out there for A380s, according to SeatGuru....

Re: First Lufthansa A380 getting ready
Indeed, only Air France has more seats. But if you look at the other users (Emirates, Singapore, Qantas), they aren't known for there dense cabins. The amount of First and business seats is rather small for such a large airplane, but LH knows that there is still a smaller demand for such seats. Same for AF.sn26567 wrote:Lufthansa announced their routes for new A380 - Tokyo and Beijing. Too bad their seating is the second densest out there for A380s, according to SeatGuru....
Re: First Lufthansa A380 getting ready
Its a good looking livery on that bird. Maybe LH will replace the B747-400 with the A380 on the FRA-IAH run. Probably not but 1 can wish More likely to replace the B747-400 with the B747-8 on the FRA-IAH run. That flight has a heavy load factor
