Satellite: 24 June: press conference about the new offices

Post by Atlantis »

Go to the Brussels Airport site and click further to News. There you will see the presentation of CEO Wilfried Van Assche about the new offices at the satellite. It's a real beauty and the building outside, when you taxi with a plane alongside, is very nice. From an old building they turned it into a nice place at the airport.

It's sure. They have a very nice view from the "konijnenkot" to the runways

I find it a pity to put offices in a space that could more usefully devoted to air traffic and passengers.

You have to see the whole picture.

Brussels Airport wanted to do two things: cost control (personnel under one roof) and develop de old terminal.

Putting the BAC-personnel under one roof (satellite) they will safe a lot of money, time and they create a state-of-the-art office. Important for there own, new staff and competition with other branches and companies.

Moving the staff will say that they can develop the old terminal. First of all, they can start the renovation of this very old looking building. In one of the older topics I gave already the necessary info, dates and one picture about this project.
Second: the ground floor will be the LCT.
Third: the upper levels will be the new offices for the already excisting companies at Brussels Airport, f.e. Aviapartner, Jet Airways, etc. They will offer those companies a unique opportunity. Now they rent buildings around the airport. BAC offered them new offices. Cost control also for them.

Brussels Airport makes clear that that part of the airport (Building 41, cleaning, parking spots) will not be developed in the future. This will stop the speculations. This could be the sign that maintenance could be moved to that part of the airport while the other part (from the Diamant to DHL/EAT - final move in 2010 to Tec4jets) can be developed for pax.

Hopes this will clear the sky and why they handled this way.

Some facts:

Besix, Vanhout and two other companies renovated the satellite. Total contract amount was 9 million euro.
The Basix-group is one of the very few companies, since 1980, who developed the airport with exception of the new small control tower, build this year.
