When is the new LCC terminal due to open? Do we know which airlines will operate from it, to where and how often? Do Brussels Airport have any guarantees that easyJet will expand their network from Brussels?

We do not know which airlines will enjoy the LCC, but lets make a list

Atlas Blue
Blue Air
Clickair
Flybe
Easyjet
Myair
skyeurope
vueling
Windjet

On an average day, we will reach maybe 10 outgoing flights??

Some of above airlines will not exist anymore by the end of the year.

Not all of them will/can move to the LCT.

I stick to my prediction: this LCT will be a failure (paid for by PAX and airlines using the expensive part of the airport).
If I follow your logic they ought to shut down PAX Ops at LGG as well. Less than 10 PAX flights a day and paid by cargo operations (or is it the Walloon gvnmt?).
OO-JFP
Well, everybody follows his own logic of course.
LGG comes from nothing and has no choice but to go in that segment.
With limited success (compared to CRL)

BRU's "strategy" has always been a "noch mossel, noch vis" approach:
- not favouring a hub system (remember when things got really difficult in 2001 for SN (and SR), the bright man at the top of BRU came up with the idea of introducing a (high) transfer tax;
- pier A is perfect for an intensive Hub-operation, but is not used at all as such (also because of SN's schedules and limited ambitions)
- SR and ZRH built successfully and skillfully a new HUB, with frequent connections and a substantial long-haul network;
- BRU has failed to convince its regular, high paying customers (BATA) about the advantages of the LCT;
- BRU will compete head-to-head with CRL and lose the battle of the Low Cost.
- most LowCost airlines on the list of potential users are weak and might not be in business anymore next year ;

If possible, give me your logic and arguments why the BRU LCT would eventually be a success????

Will SN make use of the Low Cost terminal for their b.light pax too and bring them by busses to the planes at the A/B piers? Probably not, since that's to much of a hastle....

SN should take an arrogant MOL-style of approach and just decide to unilaterally pay BRU the same taxes for its b.light pax as the LCC will do the day the Low Cost Terminal opens, even if they can't make use of the Low cost Terminal infrastructure due to the mixed products they offer...

if BRU doesn't like it, let them go to court over it...
I'd really love to see if they'd really dare to take their biggest costomer (the then SN/LH/LX/OS/BM group) to court over this and risk pissing them off, especially since that group of airlines and its alliance partners could potentially crack BRU's nuts over landing fees in a full stand-off.

This is a post about topic: Bru summer 2009 ;)

PS: I saw that their first intention was to fly to LGG but it seems they switched it to BRU.

Does anyone have any information about Qatar Airways (finally) opening the Brussels route?

Qatar Airways announced two more mystery destinations in Europe. We know there has been some pressure from the Belgian governement to open the route. Lately we have heard about the U.S. governement asking QR to open a route to Brussels to connect their biggest military base outside the USA with the NATO headquarters in Brussels.

So it might be possible...

Delta's 7 weekly JFK service will be reduced to 5 weekly service effective 25OCT09. Flights will be operated by 763 in stead of 752, however. So 5x 763 i.s.o. 7x 752.

That's interesting.. So it would be a route 'IAD-LHR-BRU-LHR-IAD' for example?

Yes, that could possibly be. I don't know the timings of UA's LHR routes, but it can be a way to preserve LHR slots and up the aircraft utilization rates. Anyways, we get a second 777 :P .

Edit: Apparently 838/828 are flight numbers from a ORD-LHR rotation, but the interesting thing is that these are flown with 763.

Is it also less expensive to station an aircraft overnight in BRU in stead of LHR ?

We can see it already in the booking engine of United. So we will see two daily flights ex-IAD to BRU. But why park their a/c for more then 12h on Belgian soil? And why via LHR?
