Weather conditions in EWR on monday 02 march

Post by carlcat »

Friends of me had to fly last monday with CO from Costa Rica to EWR and than from EWR to BRU .

By info of CO in Costa Rica the plane from Costa Rica to EWR could not land in EWR due to a snow storm in EWR .

Stay at hotel for my friends and additional charges were to their duty for reason of "Farce majeur" by the snowstorm . They were rerouted to Huston and then to AMS

Is there anybody who can give me the weather conditions in EWR on monday 02 march .

The only thing I know is that the CO comming in on tuesday morning looked to me as beeing a B757instead of a B767-400 . Or was it a B767-400 who passed the car wash and schrinked . The gate B40 looked very empty .

I will very much appreciate the information about weather circomstances in EWR on monday 02 march .

Best regards,

Carl

Although this is no official weather report, an article in Het Laatste Nieuws from last Monday (2 March) confirms the extreme weather conditions at Newark:

"... Honderden vluchten aan de oostkust moesten afgelast worden. Alleen al in Newark in de staat New Jersey werden meer dan 300 vluchten en in Boston in de staat Massachusetts ongeveer 100 vluchten geannuleerd, meldde de zender MSNBC..."

Translated: MSNBC tv reported that more then 300 flights had to be cancelled in Newark, and another 100 flights in Boston.

http://www.wunderground.com/history/air ... story.html

Concerning the amount of snowfall on a second of march, it was a new record! (13,46 cm show; last record: 02.03.1996 with 10,92 cm)

Regarding CO's downgrading on EWR-BRU, I don't know if it has anything to do with the weather in the NYC area: checking their website, it seems they will send a 762 iso 764ER to BRU on several occasions over the next few days... :?:

Loads on the transatlantic must be really low these days, I guess, because AA for instance could absorb almost 100 last-minute pax on their JFK flight yesterday, after the cancelation of a 9W flight!

Very recently I was on one of CO's B762 bound for Newark (instead of B764, everybody guessed it I suppose), it appeared less than full, with a lot of space for everybody.

[irony=ON] I just love global economic crises [irony=OFF] ;)
