New Boeings for Jetairfly-fleet 2009

Post by funki »

Last night on the local VTM-news:
Flight of a brand new Boeing 737-8OO from the Boeing factory in Seattle to BRU for JAF.
Seems they are renewing their fleet bit by bit...Is allready the 3rd brand new airplane.
And they spoke about two more new planes comming this summer.
Rumours are new B 737-700 NG and (finally ;) ) another 767-300 would be comming for Long-haul...hope this one is in better shape than OO-TUC. ;)

Anyone info of new destinations that would be flown by the new 767? Or no new long-haul destinations to expect?

Fleet plan is as follows:

1x B737-700 in March (factory new)
1x B737-700 in March (less than a year old)
1x B767-300ER in June (quite a recent plane, coming from Japan)

There are no new long haul destinations at the moment.

Don't forget the -VAC and the -VAS were also brand new (OK, coming from Sobelair, but they haven't flown for a long time there...).

So that makes Jetairfly the airline with the youngest fleet of Belgium!

Unfortunately no idea about the old regs on my side :?
I don't know where the 3rd B737-700 comes from either.

New regs should be OO-JAR, OO-JAS & OO-JAP (for the B763) though.

The B767-300 will come next june from Skymark Airlines Inc, headquartered in Tokyo Japan. Skymark operates scheduled passenger services on Japan's regional routes and international charter flights. AC will be JA767A or JA767B, fitted with 12 comfort class and 297 economy seats. OO-TUC will leave the company after the summer season.

I just looked on airfleets.net, and it looks like both aircraft are currently flying with Rossiya. A look on ch-aviation tells us that Rossiya leased three ex-Skymark Airlines. That news was from februari 2008. Does anyone have an idea why the lease to Rossiya was so short?
B767copilot, do you know where OO-TUC is going to? Also, will the new aircraft be leased or bought?

12 comfort and 297 economy in a 767-300? IMHO that's only possible if you squeeze 2 + 4 + 2 seats in one row at 30 inch seatpitch!!! Good luck!!!

Not so shocking I guess, considering these planes are mostly used on intra-Japanese routes...

Hi,

OO-TUC leaves the company ? :o ( few years to late I think )
So JAF decides still to just have 1 long-haul plane? :?
No new routes? No asia Sri Lanka/Thai/Dubai-Kenya/Zanzibar?
What happened to our holiday business?
Given away to the French XL?
Sobelair could do this years ago, why not nowadays?
Don't mention the crisis the holidayplanes are packed more and more each year,
compared to Sobelair ages.
Pity !

Considering all this ... I think we were lucky ... we still can have a laugh on this forum with JAF !
* No backup-plane on the long haul routes ! Delays for days...caused by birds, suicide bunnys in the DR !
* 2-4-2 cosy! on a 10-11h flight to the caribbean !The Belgians will be sushi-rolled to their holiday ! haha

But don't worry, I booked my JAF-holiday already, the new 737-7/800 looks great,
hope a new 737-700 will fly us to SSH next august.
( or OO_TUC as a goodbye flight ! ) hihi

Are you sure about the registrations? They were delivered to Skymark in 1998, so they would be 11 years of age, contrary to the stated 7 years.

JA767C though, has been delivered in 2002, thus fitting in the profile of 7 years of age.

No new long haul destinations in 09. Even Thomas Cook airlines reduced their number of long haul flights and is using Jetairfly on one certain route. Yes, they are competitors but are working together from time to time.

Jetairfly never flew to Zanzibar, Thomas Cook Airlines (Martinair) did. Two or three years ago we flew to Zanzibar (direct). The return flight was via Mombasa: the a/c B763ER was half empty.

There is nothing wrong with our holiday business but they are using, a lot, scheduled carriers for their flights like Hainan, Etihad, Thai (FRA), etc.

Cathay Belgium,

Nobody said there wouldn't be a 2nd Long Haul plane in the Jetairfly fleet after the -TUC. That all depends on the market. How could they be sure of the plans in such a crisis period? We never know what can happen. The current plan is however to maintain 2 B767's in the fleet.

Later on, a B787 will come as well and a second one might be very possible. Again, that all depends on the market I guess.

For your flight to SSH, I guess you might have an -800 or the B767 indeed sometimes in the summer season ;-)

Kind regards

JAF737,

I was referring to 'boeing767copilot', that the TUC will leave after the summer season,
if not are there already plans, searches on another 767 for the replacement of TUC ?
( Hope they not searching the same crap again by VARIG, altough the Japanese newer one,
is not that much improvement 2-4-2,but that looks better in these days of crisisses , isn't it Conti764? :geek: )

And yes indeed we all know about that the 787 (DREAM!liner )will come... just want to know if Boeing knows that also ? ;)

Be sure, we love the idea that JAF keeps the 2 767's until the 787 arrives, even it is the TUC,
what about we would discuss otherways . :P

Hopefully Boeing remembers we are eagerly waiting for some B787's in Belgium, hehe!

There are plans yes, but as I wrote before, it all depends on the market at that time.

Greetz!

I'm pretty sure JAF will change the seatings to more comfort seats (higher profit) and less Y-seats. According to wikipedia OO-TUC has 264 seats in total, think they will make OO-JAP quite the same specially for the "spoiled, always complaining" belgian pax, because most chartercompanies in Europe have more seats on a 767 and less pax complaining about that  ...but that's just my humble opinion ;)
