THY's regional flights manager Mr.Alan has made a statement during the ceremony of launching Ankara-Damascus flights yesterday. He said that THY's low cost arm Anadolu Jet will be launching more domestic and international flights from AJ's base Ankara airport:

From June this year they will be launching Frankfurt, Dusseldorf, Vienna, Tehran, Kopenhag, Stockholm as well as Bodrum, Denizli, Dalaman and Bursa (all domestic) flights.
He added that towards the end of this year flights to London, Amsterdam, Paris and Brussels will be also launched.

THY also sent a statement to Istanbul Stock Exchange stating that they have leased 2 off B737-700 from BOC Aviation company for to be delivered this month and next month. According to unconfirmed information these aircraft will be used on Anadolu Jet destinations.

THY also signed code share agreement with SWISS on routes:

Istanbul Ataturk- Zurich
Istanbul Ataturk-Geneva
Istanbul Ataturk-Basel

They will carry each other passengers as well as passengers can ear miles in their own (THY or SWISS) programmes or use the miles on each other flights.
The agreement will start on 1.April.2010.

THY has released a media statement about their summer timetable which will start on 28.March.2010. Some changes, increases etc. are as follows:

#)Some domestic destination frequencies will increase:
Istanbul Ataturk-Diyarbakir from 14 times weekly to 21 times weekly.
Istanbul SAW- Adana to 21 times weekly
Istanbul SAW-Antalya from 7 times weekly to 21 times weekly.
Istanbul SAW-Izmir from 13 times weekly to 28 times weekly.
Istanbul SAW-Ankara from 13 times weekly to 31 times weekly.
Istanbul SAW-Dalaman from 8 times weekly to 11 times weekly.
Istanbul SAW-Bodrum from 13 times weekly to 14 times weekly.

#)THY plans to open some new destinations during this period:
Istanbul Ataturk-Shiraz (Iran) will be 4 times a week.
Istanbul Ataturk-Sochi (Russia) will be 3 times a week.
Istanbul Ataturk-Accra (Ghana) will be 4 times a week via Lagos (Nigeria).

EU and Turkey initialled a "horizontal" aviation agreement that will remove nationality restrictions in the bilateral air services agreements between EU member states and Turkey. Deal will allow any EU airline to operate flights between Turkey and any EU nation where a bilateral agreement with Turkey exists and traffic rights are available.

It is official:

THY is starting the "Flying Chef" concept in their long distance destinations. It is said that the flights to New York already has the service where the First and Business Class passengers catered by the Flying Chef. It is understood Chicago and Tokyo flights will be the next flights where this new service will be introduced.

Turkish Airlines Moscow operational consolidation

Turkish Airlines is consolidating its operation at Moscow. From 14JUN10, Istanbul Sabiha Gokcen – Moscow service operates at Sheremetyevo airport, instead of Domodedovo.

The Star Alliance carrier currently operates service to Moscow Sheremetyevo 3 times a day from Istanbul Ataturk and 1 Daily from Antalya.

Turkish Airlines launched a new African service on 14 June. The airline now flies three times a week, on Mondays, Wednesdays and Saturdays, with 155-seat 737-800s from Istanbul Atatürk (IST) to Dar Es Salaam (DAR) in Tanzania via Entebbe (EBB) in Uganda. Both destinations are new to the airline.

The Turkish Ambassador to Tanzania, Sander Gurbuz, noted: “For those who want to proceed to other European destinations, the departure and arrivals have been made very convenient.”
