As far as I know, the A319 is the only plane that can land / take off from Eskisehir due to the very narrow runways. That is why SN always operated OO-SSP (A319) on this route.

Canadian and Turkish CAA have signed a new agreement allowing THY and Air Canada to fly between two countries. I understand THY will launch Istanbul-Toronto flights in June, if all goes OK with their planning.

And have you seen the fancy TK advertising on TV ("Feeling like a star")? They surely want to follow in the footsteps of EY/EK/QR with a world hub in IST like AUH/DXB/Doha and position themselves in the future as a classy airline.
In favor of quality air travel.

Interesting. Why is THY developing flights out of two airports in the same city? This must be a multiplication of fixed costs. Is it because of the difficulty to cross the Bosphorus during most of the day or to respond to popular demand?

Dear sn26567

The main reason is that slots during peak times are the bottleneck at IST. Little slots are available and to sustain their big international hub development, they want to shift the point to point travel to SAW, no longer interfering with their hub.

Second reason is off course to defend their marketshare from Pegasus to most routes.
