Flight increases from THY

Post by hakan »

THY has announced to increase the frequency of some flights:

Istanbul-Beirut-Istanbul flights will be increased to 7 times a week (everyday) from 2.January.2009.

Istanbul-Mardin-Istanbul flights will be increased to 7 times a week (everyday) from 6.January.2009.

Istanbul-Ashgabat-Istanbul flights will be increased to 10 times a week from 4.January.2009.

Istanbul-Baghdat-Istanbul flights are already inceased to 5 times a week on 3.December.2008.

The board of THY is also investigating whether they can start flying to Tokat (a domestic destination) from Istanbul shortly. They have sent a technical team to inspect the airport as they have concerns that they don't have a small aircraft to serve this airport as even the current THY's A319s may not be small enough to land.

The CEO, Mr.Karlitekin has said to the press that THY may look into leasing smaller a/c maybe turboprops to serve regional airports like Tokat.

Tokat was served by Atlas Jet before until they have returned the leased CRJ900 a/c to the lessor company.
