Thabks Hakan, Great news. Egyptair planned to fly to Rwanda, this summer, but due to Arab unrest, flight could be launch not before 2012. SAA has announced that they will resume flights to Kigali (5 flights a week). Star Alliance airlines are rushing to Rwanda.

I read that, from Turkish CAA :
After the negotiations, 8 bilateral air services agreement were signed with the following countries; Chad, Fiji Islands, Ghana, Rwanda, Zambia, Uganda, Dominican Republic and Jamaica. With the successful completion of these agreements the number of air services agreements of Turkey raised to 105 from 97.

TK flies to Ghana, Uganda and plans to add Lusaka (http://www.alternativeairlines.com/news ... aka-zambia).

Moreover, Turkish Airlines evacuated 28 Rwandans from Libya. I think ties can be improve between Turkey and Rwanda.

From Bloomberg:

"Spanair SA is in talks with Turk Hava Yollari (THYAO) AO, the company known as Turkish Airlines, about allowing the Turkish carrier to buy a stake of as much as 49 percent in the company, Expansion reported.

Conversations between the two parties are “very advanced,” the newspaper said, citing people familiar with the talks it didn’t identify by name."

THY seems to embark on an relentless expansion journey... and trying to mimicing Emirates Airlines and Qatar Airways.
The question is of course... is THY not digging their own grave..

I've more and more the suspicion that THY entered STAR Alliance in order siphon more passengers to their own flights. You may have noticed that THY seldom codeshare with other STAR members... if it can avoid it then it will avoid it. So, it looks like more that THY is a trojan horse within STAR. They often undercut on the expnese of the other STAR members. I suspect others are growing increasingly unhappy and uneasy with the so called star partner THY.

Sterling...Disagree with your statement:"THY is avoiding codehsare with Star Alliance members????"

Star Alliance has 27 full members including THY and THY has codeshare agreement with 16 of them. Star Alliance has 5 pending members and THY already has codeshare agreement with 2 of them. I can assure you they will be in discussions with more members to sign codeshare agreements.

THY tend to codeshare only when they don't fly with their own metal.
If they fly with their metal then the other partner doesn't codeshare often.

Too much Turkish expansion IMHO !
How do they can / survive with this expansions ! Planes, low fares.. starts to look as FR europe AFI-Asia !
I know they'll fly short range bodies medium haul with their nice position between the continents, but this expansion is becoming really remarkable !!
How can we (AF-LH-BA ) stop them ;)

Why should LH stop them? They are members of the Star Alliance. LH (and SN) should rather codeshare with them.

Hi,

I can see your point , maybe not LH then but the others..
Codesharing is nice but I guess an alliance isn't the purpose of avoiding concurrence, flying themselves is better..
We'll saw that already on other routes..
I know the product offerred by TK isn't a LH, but the TK is growing big, maybe too big to let other airliners
in..
Have a look at BKK,Nairobi . Who will pay a TG/LH ticket if they can go much cheaper with codeshare partner,*A partner TK, for 200/300 euro less with a stopover offcourse..
Guess TG and SN mustn't be too happy to codeshare TK.. and more desti's to follow..
Maybe one day TK can fill their own B777 and A330 from BRU..
Is that a good evolution ?
Now we're cheering to see an upgrade but by then..

An emirates/ethihad-isering ??

But we'll see..

Just a thing to follow closer in the future IMHO..
