BRU summer 2009: latest news, routes, airlines

Brussels Airlines has been allowed to change its once weekly non-stop flight to LAD from a weekend to a weekday flight. As such, SN has decided to serve LAD on Thursdays, iso Sundays as from the summer season. Midweek flights are deemed more lucrative than weekend flights.

SN will serve FIH more often directly as from next summer season, but will reduce the frequency to 'just' 5 times weekly as a consequence of Hewa Bora taking back 2 traffic rights it leased out to SN. The codeshare with Hewa bora will stop at the end of next month and the joint-venture between SN and Hewa Bora in the AirDC project is now officially complete history, with the Bae146 planes put up for sale by SN as LH strongly favours the idea to serve more destinations directly from BRU rather than via an African mini-hub.

That's how it looks today indeed:
In FIH, they talk about a leased 767-3ER for the twice weekly Hewa Bora fflight, although with them, you obviously never know for sure...

Definitely one of the more exotic carriers at BRU, yet one I'd personally avoid flying at all cost!

Since you've cut and paste my previous post, it isn't clear what exactly you're asking confirmation on, but regardless, everything I've said is correct... but not official, since no public confirmation has been given (yet).

Update frequenties:

Air Baltic: is going to increase their number of flights to BRU. Total number of flights is going up to 12 weekly.

El Al: is going to increase their number of flights to up 9 flights a week.

Ukraine International Airlines is going to increase their number of flights to 6 weekly. Additional flight on Tuesday.

Low cost carrier Blue Air is going to increase again their number of flights to BRU. They are going from 5 flights to a daily flight to Bucarest (BBU).

That's correct. As from 18 April all flights out of LHR to BRU with Embraer 145 aircraft.

Not a new route but a change of aircraft. The other day BMI sent out an e-mail to their frequent flyers telling them that in the new summer schedules, the Heathrow to Brussels route will be operated by Embraer aircraft instead of the current Airbus A320 series.

Hm, I think it is not Air Dolomiti, it is actually a new company called "Lufthansa Italia", which is - as Air Dolomiti - 100% owned by Lufthansa. LH seems to have two rather independent Italian daugther companies now. While Air Dolomiti continues to fly with regional planes (just received the first two brand new ERJ 190s, more to follow) and mainly connects regional and secondary airports in northern Italy with the LH hubs in MUC and FRA the new LH Italia operates only with A319 and only from MXP (the A319 come from Germanwings, another LH daughter company ...)

Lufthansa Italia is going to increase their their numbers of flights between Brussels Airport and Milan Malpensa from 2 daily to 3 daily (except on Saturdays). The additional flight is scheduled in the evening.

Its correct. They have at this moment a morning flight and an afternoon flight, both in codeshare with LX. The additional flight will be an evening flight.

LCC Myair is going to increase their presence at Brussels Airport. They are going to increase their number of flights to Bari from 2 to 3 weekly. Ops days will be: 136.
