Since that route is an extension of Billund-Brussels, will the correcponding flight from Billund also be cancelled or only limited to Brussels?pijaleu wrote:Sun Air is cancelling Brussels-Berne as from 26 Oct.

Effective 27OCT08 Jet Airways will upgrade BRU-JFK from daily 332 to daily 77W. This plane will be based in Brussels and will only fly BRU-JFK-BRU.

Strange move from 9W... I thought the LF on the BRU-JFK leg of this flight weren't quite good?sdbelgium wrote:Effective 27OCT08 Jet Airways will upgrade BRU-JFK from daily 332 to daily 77W. This plane will be based in Brussels and will only fly BRU-JFK-BRU.
Wouldn't it be a good idea for 9W to base all six planes in BRU and designate them to specific legs, regarding to capacity? This way they could also introduce single terminator flights BRU-India or BRU-NA without having to ad a second leg...
Re: BRU winter 2008-2009: latest news, routes, airlines
I reported this already on 22 September.sdbelgium wrote:Effective 27OCT08 Jet Airways will upgrade BRU-JFK from daily 332 to daily 77W. This plane will be based in Brussels and will only fly BRU-JFK-BRU.
No double posts please.

Jet Airways was evaluation all its current routes and cuts those who not perform very well (domestic and international). There was no single reason to cut any excisting route to/from Brussels Airport.Conti764 wrote: Strange move from 9W... I thought the LF on the BRU-JFK leg of this flight weren't quite good?

A new partnership deal with the British carrier bmi, will allow Brussels Airlines to add a further 3 destinations to its passenger offer: Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford and East Midlands.
Entering into force on 26 October, the codeshare will allow Brussels Airlines to offer its customers a total of 9 destinations in the United Kingdom, which means nearly 300 flights per week between Belgium and Great Britain.
Thanks to this partnership agreement, Brussels Airlines and bmi will have a joint commercial offer that comprises all of their flights to and from both airlines’ regional destinations in the UK. Brussels Airlines will therefore sell the 3 daily flights operated by bmi between Brussels Airport et Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford and East Midlands, while bmi will include in its daily offer flights operated by Brussels Airlines between the capital of Europe and Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol and Newcastle. All flights will carry both companies’ codes ('SN' et 'BD').

The press release does not mention what will happen to the codeshare with BA on the routes from Brussels to London Heathrow and Gatwick. Neither does it mention what will happen to the codeshare with BE on the Brussels-Southampton route. The codeshare with BE on Brussels-Manchester will certainly go down the drain.
Any information on this?

Re: BRU winter 2008-2009: latest news, routes, airlines
To me, it seems quite obvious the codeshare with BA and BE (if the latter still exists?) will end very soon. I don't think BA will be very amused with the tie-up of SN and BD... Like the saying goeds "van twee walletjes eten" - I don't think BA will allow SN to do sosn26567 wrote:Reported earlier on LuchtzakVEX802 wrote:A new partnership deal with the British carrier bmi, will allow Brussels Airlines to add a further 3 destinations to its passenger offer: Edinburgh, Leeds Bradford and East Midlands.

Anyway... this is just guessing of course, but from a commercial point of view, it is very difficult to retain this double act.
Re: BRU winter 2008-2009: latest news, routes, airlines
Hi all,
Since they mention clearly in their press communication that they will serve 9 destinations in UK (SN/BD together), it means that SN continues flying to Gatwick and thet BD and/or SN continue the LHR route. personally I think SN will continue LHR with BA (at least during winter season) and that this will change only later. Otherwise they would have mentioned also LHR as a joint destination. In an interview with Davignon in 'De Morgen' some time ago he mentioned that one of the reasons for chosing LH was that the codeshare with BA would have come to an end anyway (?) ... (htis might have been an error from the journalist, but it can also be true). The end of the codeshare with BE was announced earlier ...
I am curious when codeshare with LH to Germany will start (since this will add Bremen, Nurnberg, Hannover, ...).
I saw in the last issue of B-there that SN will have also other codeshares starting this winter season (some of them already metnioned in this forum): Bangalore, Toronto, Bangkok, Riga, Umea (!!) and Ljubljana (from 1 to 3 flights /day in codeshare with Adria Airways) (!!).
Regards,
Danny

After one year, Brussels Airlines is going to suspend its service to LJU. No reason was given why. Maybe the total number of fequenties as too low?
