Fares raised at BruAir from next tuesday

According to "Le Soir" this morning, page 23 :
From tuesday, the fares will be raised by 2 euros on the European net and 7 euros on the African net of Brussels Airlines.
These rises allegedly derive from the rise in fuel prices; the so-called "fuel surcharge" will then reach 18,32 euros on the European tickets ans 67 euros on intercontinental tickets.
Brussels airlines closely follow Lufthansa and Air France, who have raised their prices a few days ago.

In the past three years, the fuel surcharge at SN has been raised from 4 to 18 euros short-haul and from 10 to 67 euros long haul.

According to the consumer association Test Aankoop/Achats, these rises are far more higher than the rises in fuel prices; the airline does never give any detailed calculation; these rises tend never to be cancelled even when the fuel price is down; these surcharges must be given together with the price in publicity and when booking, not at the last moment before buying.

(Anyway, it's good news for Ryanair).

So the most expensive "low cost" "cheap" carrier in the world is going to get even more expensive. Very soon you will need a second mortgage to be able to afford one of their "cheap" tickets.

Please stop with this kind of "nonesense" posts Louise !! You always claim that they are very expensive. Every time I check the fares brussels airlines is one of the cheapest airline operating from BRU and yes even cheaper than VLM !!!

1. Only people with a hidden agenda, bad faith or competition from Brussels Airlines deny that the cheapest offers remain unchanged. If you would visit www.brusselsairlines.be every now and then, you would notice that even after the recent increase, major city trip destinations like Prague and Rome remained at 29,99 euro / 49,99 euro (all taxes and fees included, transport of luggage included, friendly check-in desk included, ...).

2. Why don't you comment the fuel surcharges from other regular airlines (or even alliances), who also claim to be the cheapest?

3. This fuel increase will show off in the nett result. And that is what counts: not being the cheapest, but making enough profit.

I don't see a problem with raising fares (fuel surcharge), other airlines do it. So why shouldn't Brussels Airlines?

Now to get back on topic:
All airlines tend to add a lot of surchages lately in order to make the fare as slim as possible.. As long as you look at the total price listed including all taxes and surchages you won't have any surprises

This is a total normal situation. Brussels Airlines and others are not flying on water.

The last couple of weeks, 30 to 40 airlines have increased their ticket prise due to higher fuel costs. Brussels Airlines is now one of the last airlines who will rise their prises. How come? They bought in the past enough fuel at a lower prise to use it in difficult times. These days every company has someone in service to keep an eye on fuel prises.

We, TNT Express, did the same and this several times this year already. And not only fuel but also index.
