New Seats in Brussels Airlines Avro-Fleet ?

Post by euroflyer »

I hope this has not been discussed before and I just missed it :(

But I were on OO-DJZ this evening (BRU-FRA), an Avro RJ85. And the seats were quite new ones, not the usual very old looking (but very comfortable) leather seats. I am not sure if this new ones are leather as well, but they looked brand new, except for the armrests which are obviously still the old stuff. So it looks like all upholstery has been exchanged, whereas the seatframe (correct word?) is still the same. And thank good it is still 5 abreast  (well, hm, not much sense in putting 6 abreast in if your flights are always 40% empty with 5 abreast  )

Does anybody know if it is just OO-DJZ or if all Avros will receive the new seats? If yes, this would most certainly mean they are to stay for some more years, otherwise this investment would not make much sense ...

By the way, OO-DJZ is still in the old livery, any news on when the full Avro fleet wll be repainted (except the BAe146, as they are still bookmarked for Africa?)

Well spotted!

Brussels Airlines is indeed busy installing new seat covers on the whole ARJ fleet.

No changes in the level of comfort though (still the same comfortable 2-3 lay-out with 31-32 inch legroom).

I was on the same plane the same day in the morning (BRU-MAN) and made the same observations as you.

And one nice thing that b.light customers did not have to pay for: a free small chocolate ball for everyone. Not quite the former Neuhaus chocolates, but a nice attention anyway.
